The Great Range Traverse is famous for being one of the most challenging hikes in USA. This 21-mile epic and legendary trail passes over ten of the highest peaks of the Adirondack Mountains.
Our objective is that you can complete this trek as part of the three epic traverses of the country (together with The Devil’s Path and The Presidential Traverse). That way you will also become a legend yourself!
For that reason we’ve prepared an itinerary that begins early in the morning in New York towards our mountain destination. Upon arrival we’ll make a short hike to our cabin base camp. During this weekend our home will be the Camp Peggy O’Brien, a cozy and lovely backcountry hut surrounded by a fantastic scenery where we’ll set up camp. We will go to bed after a hearty dinner to get ready for the next day.
On day 2 we will wake up before sunrise and begin our great traverse from the camp. We will have the opportunity to appreciate the bests views that the New York State has for you while passing over seven peaks of more that 1200 meters in height.
This day we’ll do our best to help you fulfill the most important goal of the traverse in the Great Range: Mount Marcy. It’s the highest peak in the New York State with 1628 meters of altitude. Therefore, you’ll have a food and water resupply point halfway to the final destination. As your safety is our top priority, there will be also multiple exit points along the trail. Finally, in our descent we’ll be hiking below the treeline, getting to our camping site after 15 miles. A great night rest is guaranteed after a exquisite dinner and campfire stories.
On our last day we’ll drive back to New York City to enjoy and brag about such exciting achievements that we have made in this legendary hiking expedition.
So contact us if you want to be part of the Great Range traverse. We’ll get everything ready for the adventure!

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
