Reaching the summit of a 4000m peak is a goal for many mountaineers. Join one of the guides on our team and summit Gran Paradiso (4061m), in the heart of the Alps over the course of three days.
The Gran Paradiso summit is within the reach of good hikers with some prior experience in the use of crampons. Being in Italy will allow you to enjoy the Italian lifestyle. Indeed, the warm welcome and good meals are one of the highlights of this program!
In addition to Gran Paradiso, we will summit Tresenta, near the Vittorio Emanuele refuge. This short mountaineering excursion is totally doable in one weekend. Besides, getting to Pont Valsavarenche is very easy.
This is course is accessible for eager beginners! No specific difficulty. However, you are advised to have some experience walking with crampons and walking off-trail in the mountains while carrying your backpack with some gear in it. You should be able to cope with walking at altitudes above 3000m.
Furthermore, you should be used to outdoor sports and do endurance training on a regular basis (cycling, hiking, cross-country skiing, swimming). If this is not the case, you should run at least 3 times a week (10 km/hr) two to three months before the course. Expect to be on the go for 6 to 8 hours per day with approx 900 to 1300 m ascent/descent.

We wil meet at the Valsaverenche valley. From there, we will begin hiking through a magnificent larch forest where we can often spot ibex! We reach the Vittorio Emanuele Refuge (2734m), very cozy, in a high mountain environment. The views over Piccolo Paradiso, Tresenta and Herbetet are impressive.
On the first day, we will also do an equipment check and some rock climbing training.
Dinner and overnight at the refuge.

From the refuge, we have excellent views over 3 emblematic peaks: Becca di Montclair (3544m), Ciarforon (3648m), and Tresenta (3609m). We will go for the Tresenta. It is a good acclimatization climb in which we will get used to the rope and crampons. From the summit, we will get to see our next day’s goal. Then, we will descend to the refuge to share a meal.

We leave when it’s still dark. We go up the beautiful Laveciau glacier to reach, at 3600 meters, the mountaineers coming from the Chabod refuge. There’s a magnificent and easy ridge that allows us to reach the summit of Gran Paradiso (4061m). From there, the views are simply breathtaking. From Monte Rosa to Matterhorn, from Mont Blanc to the Ecrins, and even Monviso and the Mercantour! Descent to Valsavarenche valley and head back to Mont Blanc.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
