Dolomites

3 Days

Jun - Sep

Description

I’m pleased to invite you to an amazing hut-to-hut trek in the Friuli Dolomites, a region that I love and I know very well.

This program consists in a 3-day trip starting in Erto, from where I live. During this adventure, we’ll be progressively entering in the heart of the Friuli Dolomites. By the end of this trail, we’ll reach the old town of Centenere after crossing the Duranno Pass

Before continuing, let me tell you why I like to guide my friends and clients here :

  1. It’s one of the wildest areas in the Dolomites;

  2. It’s a challenging tour;

  3. We can really see the wildlife in its habitat.

Besides those features, the Friuli Dolomites is a UNESCO site. It covers a total area of 21.460 hectares, including the provinces of Udine, Pordenone (Friuli Venezia Giulia) and Belluno (Veneto). As you can see, it is a vast region full of options for all tastes and levels.

At the bottom of this description you will find a more complete itinerary of this 3-day hiking trip.

For any other doubt or if you want to book your place, please contact me now. I will happy to take you with me and discover together the wonderful vertical world of our mountains, enjoying a great time in the outdoors of Italy.

Itinerary

Day 1: CAVA BUSCADA

We start from Erto and hike up on Mt. Borgà to take a look at the landscape of the valley. It was tragically changed by the Vajont disaster in 1963. Then, we take the trail to reach Cava Buscada, a former quarry now turned into a Mountain hut, where we will spend the night.

Day 2: MANIAGO HUT

We take a tour around the wonderful Val Zemola, with its fabulous wildlife. Then, we reach Rifugio Maniago, under the breath-taking walls of Mt. Duranno.

Day 3: CENTENERE RIDGE

In our last day we hike up to Duranno Pass, and take a long walk on the Centenere Ridge, among herds of alpine ibexes, with the astonishing views of the highest peaks of the region. Finally, we get down to the town again.

Mountain Leader

My love for the mountains grew up with me in the flats of Romagna, thanks to my family that let me spent all my vacations in the Dolomites when I was a child. The Dolomites and the mountains between Romagna and Tuscany are the most vivid memories I have of my childhood.
Then I forgot the outdoors for a few years, and spent some time following the other great passion I have: travelling. When I wasn't at school I spent all my time wandering from one hostel to the other all around Europe with my best friend, always searching for new landscapes and new emotions.
I graduated from high school as Business and Programming Consultant, then I completely changed my core subject as I attended the Undergraduate Courses in Anthropological Sciences at Bologna's University. My thesis project brought me back to the mountains, with a research in Landscape and Disaster Anthropology that took me to Erto for the fieldwork, the town where I spent the last six years!
After that I attended the Graduate Courses in Cultural Anthropology, Ethnology and Ethnolinguistics at Ca'Foscari University in Venice, and this time I wrote a thesis on Alpinism. The subject was again Landscape and Risk Anthropology, but this time fieldwork took me to all the best climbing sites in Europe and beyond: Mont Blanc, Arco, Siurana, Montserrat, Elbsandsteingebirge, Céüse, Osp, the Todra Gorge in Morocco and other more...
Once finished with University I decided to turn my passion into a profession, so I took part in the selection for the courses organized by the UIAGM Mountain Guide's Association, and after a year of hiking and studying I became a Mountain Leader.
Now I take other people with me to discover the wonderful vertical world of our mountains, and enjoy the great times together in the outdoors.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
