FAQs

Is it possible to rent crash pads in Fontainebleau for climbing independently, either before or after the guided bouldering tour with you?

It is possible to rent crash pads. There are several options available for renting crash pads in the Fontainebleau area. You can find them at the climbing gym called "Karma", at the sports store "S'Cape Fontainebleau", as well as the climbing gym "Le Rempart" in Vert-Saint-Denis.

What are the arrangements or alternatives if the weather forecast is unfavorable?

If the climbing instructor determines the weather conditions are not suitable for safe climbing, we can explore the possibility of rescheduling our day. This alternative will depend on both your availability and ours. Another option could be to go indoor climbing at one of the gyms in Paris or the climbing gym in Fontainebleau, with the understanding that you would be responsible for the entrance fee (both yours and the one for the climbing instructor). If none of these alternatives are feasible for you, a refund will be provided.

What items should I bring with me for our half-day bouldering experience together?

Remember to bring your climbing shoes and wear appropriate attire based on the weather forecast. It's also recommended to bring water and food/snacks for the duration of the bouldering session. The climbing instructor will take care of providing the crash pads and chalk for your climbing experience.

If you don't have climbing shoes with you, no worries! "Karma" climbing gym, located just a short 2-minute drive from the train station, offers rental climbing shoes. We can head there before starting the bouldering session to ensure you have the necessary equipment.

Is the experience accessible and suitable for children?

Children are more than welcome to participate in bouldering activities in Fontainebleau. The climbing instructor will consider their climbing level, ages, and preferences when selecting the boulders they will climb. The climbing instructors from the team have a great passion for instructing kids and ensuring they have an enjoyable experience.

What is the location of the meeting point?

If you choose to arrive by train, the guide can arrange to meet at either the Fontainebleau-Avon or Bois-le-Roi train stations. These stations are approximately 30 minutes away from Paris' "Gare de Lyon".

Alternatively, if you are arriving by car, the meeting point will be arranged near the bouldering spot. The specific location which will be chosen will take into account factors such as your climbing experience, the objectives you have for the bouldering experience together, weather conditions, temperatures, and whether you have a car.

Is it possible for me to join a group?

You can join a group for a ½-day bouldering tour!

These tours usually take place on Sundays at 10am. Check the JOIN A GROUP section for upcoming group dates.

Group Size:

  • Minimum climbers: 2 (for a guaranteed departure)
  • Maximum climbers: 4

Please note, the tour will be canceled if the minimum number of participants is not reached two days prior to the scheduled date. In such cases, you can choose to convert your booking to a private session, postpone to another group date, or receive a refund.

Price: €105 per person (includes the guiding fee, crash pads, and chalk).

Meeting Point: Bois le Roi Train Station (approximately 30 minutes from Paris' Gare de Lyon). Please note that the guide cannot wait more than 10 minutes for late arrivals to ensure a quality experience for those on time. The guide will depart with participants who arrive punctually, and unfortunately, latecomers will not be able to join. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

Can I book a full-day guided bouldering tour instead of a half-day tour?

Certainly! You can find all the details for the day tour at the following link: https://www.explore-share.com/trip/1-day-guided-bouldering-in-fontainebleau-paris/. During the half-day tour, you will be bouldering for approximately 3 hours, while the full-day tour will offer a duration of 6 hours. If you're interested, we can also discuss the possibility of planning a multi-day bouldering tour tailored to your preferences.

What transportation options are available to travel from Paris to Fontainebleau?

If you choose to travel by train, you have two options for stations: "Fontainebleau-Avon" or "Bois-le-Roi." The selection of the station will depend on the specific bouldering area the climbing instructor will choose for your tour. The train ride from Paris Gare de Lyon to either station takes approximately 30 minutes. The climbing instructor will be there to pick you up upon your arrival.

Alternatively, if you prefer to travel by car, it is a more straightforward option as we can arrange a meeting point directly at the designated bouldering spot for your half-day tour.

What people are saying about Explore-Share

Man

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Maxine

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Cami

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
