The Hardangerfjord is the world´s fourth largest fjord, and has been an important geoformation throughout history. It stretches 179 kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean to the interior of Norway, and has recently become a tourist destination. The natural features, different branches, and the glaciers on the fjord make it a perfect place for a winter adventure.
So what better place to start a Scandinavian splitboarding program than the small village of Finse, which can only be accessed by railway. Sitting on the frozen Finsevatnet Lake at 1,222 meters, its railway station the highest in all of Norway. It is a popular destination for expedition training and snow touring.
From Finse, we will splitboard across the glacier and traverse the Hardangerfjord. Points of the trek will be aided by harnesses and ropes to ensure our safety, and the first crossing of the glacier will take roughly six hours.
We will use our next three days to explore the untoached snow of this incredible region. With so much time immersed in the remote serenity of Norway, you will see the unbelievable beauty of the nordic features, including the charming and picturesque villages along the fjord.
It will be my pleasure to show you the best aspects of the fjord and this region, and I will make sure we have an absolute blast in a very safe environment. We will splitboard through a place that not many people have seen, and certainly not like this, so we will have a very special experience.
This sustained trip is designed for ambitious intermediate and advanced splitboarders. You should be in good physical shape, and be mentally prepared to take on the challenge.
Book this splitboarding program now to see the majestic Hardangerfjord by touring through a Norwegian wonderland!
I can also take you across the largest glacier in continental Europe on a four-day ski tour!
