Description

Calling all avid skiers to the slopes of Bariloche! Come join me on this day-long ski tour in Argentine Patagonia!

Bariloche, a mountainous town said to bear a resemblance to the Swiss Alps, is a fantastic destination for winter sports like skiing. Very close to town, Cerro Lopez is also a fantastic destination to go visit, and as a local guide I am happy to take you.

We will begin this excursion on the Arroyo Lopez trail-head and make our way towards Roca Negra Mountain Hut. The trail will eventually take us to ‘Filo de las Cabras’ which is a region in Cerro Lopez, where you will hike through a forest and then enjoy a ski descent. From ‘Filo de las Cabras’ you will get to enjoy spectacular views, including the stunning Nahuel Huapi Lake.

This trip is intended for intermediate or upper level skiers, and I ask that you please bring your own equipment and meals, as they will not be provided to you on this trip. Moreover, the number of ski descents will depend on the weather and snow conditions, in addition to the physical condition of the participants.

So, if you have always wanted to ski in Argentine Patagonia above breathtaking views, this is the trip for you! And if you are interested in more ski activities in Bariloche, check out my one-day back-country ski trip!

Mountain Guide

Originally from San Carlos de Bariloche, as a teenager I became interested in climbing and skiing.

I'm a certified AAGM mountain guide since 2005 and a ski guide, and worked in Northern and Southern Patagonia, including expeditions such as the Patagonian icefield round trips, Nahuel Huapi and Los glaciares national parks´guide.

I'm also a second degree ski patrol and have been working for the last 15 winters in Catedral (Bariloche, Argentina) and Grandvalira (Andorra). ANPS and EASP ski patrol.

I climbed many mountains at Chalten area (Guillaumet, Mermoz, Rafael, Saint Exupéry, media luna), Cerro Fitz Roy (supercanaleta, and Affanasief) and Pilar Casarotto (first female team). Also passionate for sport climbing, I reached a maximum grade of 7 c + (French scale) and have skied through several mountains including Cerro Gorra blanca, Vespignani, Tronador and Lanin.

I'm also a Yoga Vital instructor.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
