Description

The village resort of Engelberg is located in the canton of Obwalden in Switzerland. Near some of the Swiss Alps‘ most beautiful peaks, this resort area is a lovely place to visit and explore. The area is also home to some great ice climbing spots. And on this trip, I would like to guide you to some beautiful ice falls that you will get to spend the entire day climbing.

There is a large variety of potential climbing spots in the Engelberg region. As a result, this trip is open to ice climbing beginners as well as experts. No matter what kind of experience you are looking for, or are qualified for, there is a great ice fall route just waiting for you to climb. There are also top rope and lead routes available as well.

Along with the thrilling experience you will get during this ice climbing trip, you will also get to enjoy some magnificent views. That is because Engelberg is surrounded by several gorgeous Swiss cantons, including Bern, Uri and Nidwalden. Hence making this trip a great addition to any vacation in the Swiss Alps.

All participants on this trip should be in good physical condition. You should also have prior gym climbing experience as well.

Participants should bring the following items with them: warm and waterproof clothing, 2 pairs of gloves, mountaineering boots, climbing harness and helmet. Except for clothing, missing items can be borrowed upon request.

Meeting point

The meeting point will be announced no later than the Thursday before the tour as we will wait as long as possible to ascertain the best location based on weather and other factors.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area.
