The Gastein valley is a marvellous area in the Salzburg region of Austria. it is perfect for many winter activities, the most popular of which is skiing, particularly free ride skiing. On this trip that I am offering, I want to guide you for a day of free ride, or off-piste skiing, at Dorfgastein and Grossarl.
Each place offers their own personalities and highlights. However, one thing that both of them share are great free ride skiing runs. The combined skiing area of Dorfgastein and Grossarl is 73 kilometres. There are also 17 different ski lifts to take you wherever you need to go. Finally, Grossarl is also part of Ski Amade, which is Austria's largest connected skiing area. The Amade area covers over 700 kilometres and has 270 ski lifts.
It is needless to say that skiing in Austria is immensely popular. And after taking one look at the slopes of where we will go, you will immediately see why.
The scenery is also a wonderful highlight of both Dorfgastein and Grossarl. There are many lovely peaks to admire, and the snow covered forests bring a soothing calm to the landscape. However, when skiing in Austria, it is hard to take the attention away from the slopes themselves. The powder you will get to enjoy is deep and plentiful, and I have no doubt after completing one run, you'll be anxious for another!
There are many places you can choose to ski in Austria. And I do lead trips in several of them. However, Dorfgastein and Grossarl are definitely highlights that are worth enjoying. So if you want to give these 2 places a try, just send me a request. I know you won't regret it.
I can also take you on another free ride skiing trip in Graukogel, which is also in the Gastein valley.

I’m from Austria (Europe) and live in the Gastein-Valley next to Salzburg. Since 1996 I’m a UIAGM / IVBV professional mountain guide. In 2000 I graduated as a ski instructor.
My last 20 years I was working as mountain guide in all different parts of the Alps, in all seasons. In winter I work for different ski schools as ski instructor in Austria and Switzerland. Since a couple of years i am guiding as well in New Zealand. Furthermore I`m working in several education teams like the Austrian Mountain Guide Association as a coach, and also in the Austrian Skiing Instructor Association, specialized for alpine courses.
I was member of two Himalaya expeditions in 1997 and 2004. I have been climbing on Cho Oyu and Broad Peak .
My big passion is rock and ice climbing.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
