There isn’t anything in the world quite like a glacier. Whether it’s the images we have in our minds as to what covered the planet during the ice age, or of the legendary glacier that sank the titanic, there is something magical ancient and amazing about them. And the Davidson glacier near Haines, Alaska is no different.

This amazing glacier is gazed at by visitors from all over the world, all year round. And while gazing at this amazing slab of ageless ice is an experience all on its own, it pales in comparison to the opportunity to actually climb along its surface.

Over the course of 5 thrilling days, we will visit and explore the Davidson glacier. We will climb in several different areas of the mammoth glacier. And as a result, you will get to enjoy the kind of experience that many people often dream about. And because of the sheer size of the Davidson glacier, there are several different ice walls to choose from. Thus providing climbers with a different climbing experience every day. Also, as a result of the variety of ice walls, there are opportunities for expert ice climbers to really challenge themselves, or for amateur and average ice climbers to learn and practice their still developing ice climbing skills.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger.
