Follow Yasuko, a JMGA mountain guide, on a 4-day hiking trip to Daisetsuzan. Beautiful mountains and wild life at the largest national park in Japan!
4 Days
Jul, Aug
Daisetsuzan (also known as Taisetsuzan) lies in the centre of the island of Hokkaido, in a mountain range that carries the same name.
Among other peaks and volcanoes, you can find the highest mountain in the island: Asahidake (2290 m).
This large unspoiled region is a paradise for hikers and outdoor lovers. Between the end of June and the end of July, it's covered with flowers. Furthermore, there are always great chances of seeing wild animals, like bears and foxes.
The environment is so well preserved that it only takes one day for you to feel totally connected with nature! That's one of the reasons why I love this place so much. Every visit is special and unforgettable.
We'll be hiking for 4 days and camping in tents during night. Mountain huts are usually crowded and I believe camping makes the experience much more valuable! Please note that I can only take you on this hike during the months of July and August. Snow makes June and September unsuitable for this program.
The trail is suitable for all levels and not very steep. Average hiking time per day is 7 hours, including meals and relaxing while admiring the landscapes. You can check the complete itinerary below this description.
Please contact me if you would like to join me on this hiking trip in Daisetsuzan National Park. I'll be glad to show you some of my favorite spots!
You can also consider joining an existing group travelling to Daisetsuzan on a fixed date.
We will meet at North Exit, Sapporo Station at 7:00 a.m. Or, pick up at your hotel or meet at Asahikawa Airport at 9:30 a.m.
From Sapporo station / Asahikawa Airport, we will go forward to Asahidake Rope-way Station. We can stop at the shop to buy some food or snacks. We will go to Sugatami Station (the 5th station) of Asahidake Rope-way and start our hiking. We will take a gondola and then walk for 2 1/2 hours in order to reach the top. We will camp on the other side of the mountain after going down for about an hour. Stay overnight at Ura-Asahi camp site (tent)
This is also a beautiful day with a lot of amazing views on the Daisetsuzan mountain range. At night, we either sleep in the tent or in the mountain hut. Stay overnight at Chu-betsu camp site (mountain hut or tent)
Tomuraushi is a very famous mountain in Hokkaido. We will stay at night on the Minaminuma camp. (tent)
We will go hiking from Minaminuma to Higashi-taisetsu-sou around noon.
After taking Onsen and having lunch, we will go to Shin-Chitose Airport at 6:00 p.m. / Sapporo Station at 7:30 p.m.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
