Description

If you want to have an outdoors adventure in the closest spot to paradise on earth, then you should join me on the Cyclades Islands’ trekking in Greece.

The Cyclades islands are a group of islands located in the Aegean Sea, in the southeastern region of Greece.

And I will take you sailing to Amorgos and Paros, two of the most beautiful and less crowded islands of this archipelago. And once on these islands we’ll go hiking to discover some ancient roads and structures surrounded by an incredible landscape and the blue and turquoise sea.

My plan is to spend a few days in each islands, to visit the best of both of them. And every night we’ll be sleeping on the boat, that will be following our progress by sea. Plus you’ll be able to have relaxing swims in the golden beaches that will surround us every time.

So send me a request to join a group on a fix date or let me know when you want to make this Cyclades Islands’ trekking program in Greece and we’ll start organizing your next unforgettable trip!

And if you want to try other adventures in this Greece, please check my Climbing and sailing on Kalymnos Island, Greece and my Trekking the Kalymnos trail in Greece.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Meeting at the Paros Airport. Transfer to the Marina and accommodation on the boat. Depending on the arrival time we’ll visit the town of Paroikia, with the famous church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani. Quick briefing on safety on board and dinner in town.

Day 2: Sail to Amorgos

Early departure to the Island of Amorgos. We’ll make a stop in the archipelago of Koufounisia and walk on the shore to admire the golden beaches and green waters. Then we continue sailing to reach the small village of Aegiali located on the North East side of Amorgos, where our trekking will start.

Day 3: First hike

The first part of the trekking in Amorgos is a ring route, starting from the fishermen dwarf, we will reach Tholaria, follow the North side of Mount Krikellos, reach the church of Agios Theologos and then the Church of Stravros (680 m), a viewpoint above a very steep cliff. We walk a short way back and then reach the village of Langada and later Aegiali, the starting point.

Day 4: Hike to Chora

A long walking day that will take us to the gorgeous Monastery of Panaghia, the village of Chora and then back to the sea level at the Katapola port. The first part of the trek is unrolling on the North slope of the Island passing through the villages of Kato Potamos and Ano Potamos. We will cross to the South slope, then reach the sheltered XI century Monastery of Panaghia Hozoviotissas. After a long stop for pictures, resting and to satisfy your curiosity we climb the ridge, crowded with windmills and we reach the distinctive village of Chora. Here it pays to make a long stop for a snack and to walk the narrow lanes of this white walled village. From here we can either walk or take a car down to the port of Katapola where we will find our boat and our skipper.

Day 5: Hike to Arkea Archesini and sale to Paros

From Katapola we walk west to reach the archeological spot of Arkea Archesini. After a visit to the ruins we will board the boat and cross back to Paros where we will arrive in late afternoon. After the berthing in the Marina you can visit Paroikia, swim in the bay and spend a mundane night in the village.

Day 6: Hike in Paros Island

There are a few trails to chose from in the Island of Paros. In all of them you will have the chance to see beautiful views of the Aegean Sea and find small secluded beaches for a swim. Last dinner on the boat.

Day 7: Departure

Breakfast and transfer to the Airport according to your flight schedule.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
