If you are travelling to Slovenia, climbing Triglav (2864 m) will probably be on your list of must-do activities. This time, I propose a 2-day climbing trip through the Valley of the Seven Lakes.
This is one of the longest ways to ascend the highest and most famous peak in Slovenia, but it's also one of the most beautiful trails.
The starting point of this hiking trail is Blato meadow, high above Bohinj Lake. Even though we can choose a starting point in a lower spot of the valley, driving up to this place is much more scenic. Furthermore, we'll cover some of the height difference during the car drive.
On the first day of this trip we'll cover a 20 kilometers distance. First we'll approach a hut by the Seven Lakes, which is standing over alpine meadows. We'll have lunch there and then continue our way up to Dolic Hut, the place where we'll spend the night.
The second day, we'll hike for almost an hour through an old military trail until we reach a via ferrata that will take us right to the summit of Mt Triglav.
Finally, we'll return back to the car on a 7-hour hike. We'll be down in the valley in the afternoon.
Please contact me if you want to join me for climbing Triglav through the Seven Lakes Valley. It will be an amazing experience!
You can also consider other alternatives to visit this famous peak, like climbing Mt Triglav from Krma Valley.
We drive to Blato meadow, the starting point of the trail.
Then we hike to a hut by the seven lakes over alpine meadows.
After having lunch on the hut we continue up the valley to Dolic hut, where we stay overnight.
We cover almost 20 kilometers distance on that day and deal with 1500 height meters. It takes us between 7-9 hours to reach Dolic hut from Blato meadow.
We hike for an hour through an old military trail for an hour. Then, we climb a via ferrata right to the summit of Triglav.
It takes around 3 hours to ascend Triglav from Dolic hut.
Descent goes to Planika hut, Vodnikov dom and across alpine meadows back to our car. As there are some longer ascents also on the way down it takes around 7 hours to reach our car from the top of the mountain.
That means that the day is around 10 hours long.

I am a UIAGM mountain guide, ski instructor and sports teacher and the current president of the Slovenian Mountain Guide Association.
I am still the only guide who can make a living working exclusively in Slovenia. I climb Triglav more than 25 times per year, which means I have climbed the most famous peak in my country over 200 times.
If you want to climb or ski in Slovenian mountains I am the right choice. I guide via ferrata, rock climbing, snow climbing, ice climbing, hikes, heliski, freeride skiing and ski touring.
Slovenia has good options for all of these activities, so you are welcome to take a look at my trips and find something for yourself. If you don't find anything let me know and I will see if I can help you!
I speak English. Ich sprache auch ein bischen Deutsch. Parla anche un pocho Italiano e abla tambien un po Espanol.
If I am not available to guide you, one of the super experienced guides in my team - Rok, Peter, Grega or Igor - will be your guide.
