Description

Dreaming about exploring Patagonia? Then I have the perfect trip for you! Follow me to ascend the impressive Osorno Volcano (2,655m) where you’ll be able to enjoy breathtaking views of Southern Chile. This is a trip for even the less experienced mountaineers.

The Osorno Volcano is the landmark of the Los Lagos Region in Chile. Its perfect triangular shape, altitude and snow-covered peak can be seen from the whole area. It is home to a wide variety of plants and animals including the Andean birch, Coihue tree, puma, Patagonian fox, Patagonian skunk, and others.

Our trip will take place on the western side of the volcano. We will begin in the afternoon of the first day by driving from Puerto Varas to Teski lodge, where we’ll spend the night. Then, we’ll wake up before sunrise the next day to begin our ascent. The Teski lodge is over the tree line, so we will not trek the forest, we will go straight to the scree and snow. Once at the top, we’ll be able to rest and enjoy the views of the Lake District: the Todos los Santos, Rupanco and Llanquihue lakes, Petrohue river, and the Puntiagudo, Tronador, Calbuco, Casablanca, Lanín, Puyehue and Llaima volcanoes. Finally, by 1 pm, we’ll begin our descent and arrive at Puerto Varas at 6 pm.

If you’ve always wanted to visit Patagonia, this is a perfect way to do it. Book your trip now and participate in an exciting and accessible ascent with incredible views.

Additionally, I also offer trips to the Calbuco Volcano and to the Puntiagudo Volcano. Make sure to check out these options too!

Alpine Guide

As a kid I grew up next to the majestic volcanoes and lakes of southern Chile. When I became an alpinist, I started climbing the big mountains of the Maipo Valley and that soon took me to climb in the Alps.

With my wife, dogs and son we live in Austria and in Chile, sharing life in two different places, but in the same way.

Since the year 2009, I'm guiding mostly the volcanoes of southern Chile and, when possible, the big mountains around Santiago and the Atacama desert.

I'm a member of the Chilean Mountain Guide Association (www.angm.cl), with whom we are working to bring the IFMGA standard to Chile, not only to validate our profession, but also to start teaching future mountain guides in Chile.

I work with a team of guides in the Puerto Varas area, so when I'm in Austria, I can arrange for you to climb with one of my colleagues.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
