If you are looking for new climbing challenges, join me on this fantastic expedition to the Grossvenediger! During this 2-day trip, we will reach its very high top while passing through the most amazing Austrian landscapes.
The Grand Venus, or Grossvenediger, with its 3674 meters is the most wonderful mountain in the Alpine part of Austria.
Although there are other higher mountains, this offers the best views of the surrounding landscapes.
The Grossvenediger is the main peak of the Venediger Group, a mountain range with the Alps.
So, according to the experts, it is Austria’s fourth highest peak.
Once we reach the summit, you will find yourself surrounded by spectacular glaciers. This setting is all part of the beautiful Highe Tauern National Park.
Our climbing trip will be divided in two days. On the first day, we will meet and commence our ascent through the mountains and reach the Kürsinger Hütte.
Then, on the second day, we will finally reach the Grossvenediger’s top! From there, you will enjoy the most amazing view of the Austrian Alps and beyond.
Each group of climbers will have 6 members maximum. In order for your trip to be totally safe and your guidance personalized, this number results perfect.
All mountain lovers are welcome. However, you must have previous experience dealing with crampons, even if it is little. Also, feel comfortable with exposed walking.
The necessary equipment, crampons and climbing harness, is free of charge. We will provide you with it.
This trip requires you to be in good physical conditions to be able to ascent about 400 meters an hour.
And, last but not least, you must tolerate well medium height positions.
If you are ready for new challenges, do not hesitate and come with me to the Grossvenediger. I promise you this climbing trip will leave you speechless and wanting for more. I’ll be waiting for your contact. It will be a pleasure to be your guide and adventure together in the insides of the Austrian Alps.
We will meet at the Parking Hopffeldboden in Obersulzbachtal. Then, a shuttle will take us to the Kürsingerhütte cable car. We will start our ascent to Kürsinger Hütte following either the path for hiking or the ensured climb for approximately 2 hours.
We will climb upwards from Kürsinger Hütte passing from Obersulzbach up to the Venediger Scharte. We will traverse the ridge in flattering terrain until we reach the Grossvenediger’s summit after 4-6 hours. Then, we will descend following the route back to Kürsinger Hütte and finally to the cable car.

Mountain Guide
The mountains have always been a great part of my life. I was a youth leader of the Alpine Association of Zell am See, Bergrettungsmann, and completed the training as a ski and snowboard instructor. I studied meteorology because it can be very useful in mountaineering. My first trips took me to the Eastern Alps, around Piz Bernina and Biancogray. I also had the chance many times the amazing Mont Blanc range and the peaks around Chamonix. Finally, I got to practice in the high mountains of Bolivia and Chile.
I have really found my calling as a mountain guide. I am right where I always wanted to be. The smile on my clients' faces at the summit or after an intense ski day is so rewarding!
I am part of a team of local guides (Bergführer Zell am See Kaprun), all friends of mine, guys with whom I share the passion for the mountains. They are Markus B, Markus H and Gerald, all IFMGA certified guides. Our philosophy is "to know how to do something well is to enjoy it". Therefore, we always keep learning to give you the best experience.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
