The Massif des Calanques is a coastal range in the south of France that is notorious for its remarkable beauty. Within this range, the largest is the Calanque de Sormiou, a world-renowned climbing destination that boasts pristine blue water around its limestone walls.

You are guaranteed an incredible time on your climbing program here. The rock is loaded with crevices for all of your pitches, and traverses are possible on longer routes. Routes have a moderate level of difficulty, and can extend into the Mediterranean for a truly unique experience.

The Calanque de Sormiou is easy to access, with Marseille just around the corner and Cassis to the east. Even as a prime tourist destination and extreme popularity, it is still able to maintain a bit of remote magic, which only enhances the environment and the experience.

Once you are on the cliffs, you will have some of the best views in the world. There is no other place like this, particularly to climb between the sea and the sky. When looking into the Mediterranean, you will see the other Calanques and small islands off the coast.

This area is my home, and my goal is to share a fun and safe program with you, one that you will remember for the rest of your life. I can adapt a trip to your needs and skills so you can achieve something special when you visit Calanque de Sormiou.

Mountain Guide

Even as a kid, I knew I wanted to become a mountain guide. Growing up in Aix-en-Provence, in southern France, the Alps have been my playground since a very young age. Amazing climbing spots like the Calanques and Gorges du Verdon were just a stone throw's away from my hometown.

Eventually, I also became an architect, another long-time passion. As an architect, I lived in New York, Barcelona and Rotterdam and learned to speak fluent English and Spanish. I also met great people and had an amazing time while doing it!

I'm now back home in France and spend most of my time guiding in the Alps. I'll be happy to take you rock climbing, skiing or mountaineering to some of my favorite spots.
