FAQs

What’s included in the guided climbing day tour price?

The guiding service and the climbing equipment (also the personal one: helmet, harness, etc.) are included.

Where is the meeting point?

If you have a car, the meeting point will be at the crag directly. The crag will be selected based on your climbing experience, your wishes for this climbing day, and the weather. We usually go climbing in Muzzerone. It is a wonderful climbing spot, just above the sea, 15 minutes drive from La Spezia. It is suitable for all climbing levels.

If you don’t have a car, our guide can pick you up at the train station of La Spezia (https://goo.gl/maps/ZfgBDRwcPvg18z5Q7).

What should I bring with me?

Please bring a light-packed lunch with some water.

Also take a waterproof jacket, comfortable clothes, and shoes.

We’ll take care of bringing the climbing equipment.

How long are we going to climb for?

We usually start climbing at between 9.00 and 10.00 am, and we finish at between 4.00 and 5.00 pm.

Is it possible to climb multipitch routes in the 5 Terre?

Yes, in Muzzerone. There are some beautiful multi-pitch routes (from 5c to 7a) just above the sea.

Is it also possible to climb close to Florence?

Yes, there is a nice climbing crag near Florence in "Monsummano", with many single-pitch routes for all technical levels. To get there, you can take a train from Firenze SMN to Montecatini Centro. It takes about 50 minutes. Our mountain guide can pick you up at Montecatini train station. You’ll then drive together for 10 minutes to reach the climbing spot.

How many climbers maximum can join?

A guide can usually take a maximum of 5 climbers with him. If you are more than 5, another guide from our team will join.

I’m alone, can I join other climbers?

Unfortunately, no, we offer private guided climbing tours only.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes, of course, kids are welcome! The crag of Muzzerone, near Portovenere, is perfect for children and families.

Are you offering other outdoor/adventure activities in the area of the 5 Terre?

Yes sure! Please have a look at this page - https://www.explore-share.com/mountain-guide/prorock-outdoor-team/ - which lists the different activities we offer in the area (Liguria & Tuscany).

What happens if the weather is very/too hot?

If the weather is very hot (like in August for example), we can go to climbing spots where it's cooler: in Monte Lieto, in the Apuan Alps, near Forte dei Marmi, for example.

I need to book accommodation. Where would you recommend I stay?

We recommend that you stay in the villages of Le Grazie, Portovenere, Riomaggiore,

Fezzano, Monterosso, Vernazza or Manarola—all beautiful villages. The mountain guide can pick you up at your hotel there or at the La Spezia train station.

What are some recommended accommodations near our adventure location?

We understand that finding the perfect place to stay is an essential part of your adventure experience. To help you with this, we’ve curated a list of three highly recommended hotels that offer comfort, convenience, and a touch of local charm. What people are saying about Explore-Share

Man

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Maxine

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
