Description

We invite you to climb the four highest mountains in Mexico in 10 days: the Malinche (4420m), the Nevado de Toluca (4680m), the Iztaccihuatl (5230m) and the Pico de Orizaba (5747m), the highest summit in the country.

This trip is designed to have a good acclimatization and so that while we climb the highest peaks in Mexico we also visit the most important historical tourist sites in the country between each climb, with guided visits to Teotihuacán, the Historic Center of Mexico City, Huamantla and Cholula

On the first days we will climb the Malinche and the Nevado de Toluca, which are the 5th and 4th highest mountains in the country. Climbing these two mountains involves  a day of moderate level hikes, that a person used to do some excercise can endure without problems. Every ascent is different, but all offer really impressive views.

The challenge gets really interesting on the final days, since we will climb the Iztaccihuatl and Pico de Orizaba, which are the 3rd and 1st highest mountains in Mexico.(The Popocatepetl which is the 2nd highest mountain cannot be climbed due to its volcanic activity ).

The Iztaccihuatl is a beautiful mountain with two glaciers, and although it is not a very technical mountain to climb it requires an excellent physical condition, due to the height and the time it will take us to reach the top. The most impressive highlight in this ascent will be the sunrise that we will enjoy while we climb, with an incredible view of the valley with the Malinche and the Orizaba Peak in front of us.

The Pico de Orizaba, being the top of Mexico, is one of the most diverse mountains in our country, since it starts with an arenal, then we will have a rocky part called the labyrinth and in the end the magnificent Jamapa glacier that will take us to the top.  It is on this glacier where we will enjoy a magical sunrise, with stunning views over the surroundings and over our goal: the highest summit in Mexico.

To reach the top of the Pico de Orizaba you also need an excellent physical condition and you need a good knowledge on the use of crampons and ice ax. We will do some practices when we climb Iztaccihuatl and a day before in the shelter for those who have no experience handling these tools.

So if you are in for these unique program, just contact us and book your place! Come join us and climb the highest mountains and discover the cultural treasures of Mexico!

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
