Description

Climbing Gran Paradiso (4061) is a great mountaineering experience. Today I invite you to join me and reach the summit of this stuning peak in an alpi trail mode, descending to the valley in just one day. We will combine the effort of trail running along with basic mountaineering skills.

Gran Paradiso is located in the beautiful Aosta Valley, in Italy. We will start from Pont, in Valsavarenche. This alpi trail climb is a great challenge, with more than 2000 meters of vertical gain, reserved only for the extremely fit. We will enjoy some trail sections and as we ascend we will put our mountaineering skills in use.

This famous mountain is usually climbed in 2 days, but the alpi trail fast mode allows us to reach the summit and descend on the same day. This climb is also a great preparation for further ambitious goals in 1 day, like climbing Mont Blanc.

Gran Paradiso is considered one of the easiest 4000-meter peaks to climb in the Alps, with no particular technical difficulties. However, to join this program you need to have a regular endurance training and basic mountaineering skills, including experience on the use of crampons and ice ax.

We will ascend with trail running shoes and then we will change them by mountaineering boots. During the ascent we will cover the following sections:

Section 1. Pont Parking (1960m) – Refuge Victor Emmanuel II (2730m).  We will follow a comfortable trail through larch and pastures and enjoy a food break at the Hut. Elevation gain: 770m.

Section 2. Refuge Victor Emmanuel II (2730m) – Montcorve Glacier (3050m). This is a rocky trail. We will change our equipment. Cumulative elevation gain: 1090 m.

Section 3. Montcorvé Glacier – Foot of the Gran Paradiso summit ridge (4000m). Mountaineering: glacier itinerary on a gentle slope. Cumulative elevation gain: 2040 m.

Section 4. Foot of Gran Paradiso summit ridge (4000m) – Gran Paradiso summit (4061m). Mountaineering: mixed and aerial route. Cumulative elevation gain: 2100 m.

The Gran Paradiso alpi trail ascent will take us from 4 to 6 hours of effort and the descent another 3 or 4 hours.

If you want to be part of this great program, just send me a request. Join me and let’s reach the summit of this famous mountain in the heart of the Italian Alps. You could also join me on the Aiguille du Tour (3540m) alpi trail ascent, from Chamonix.

Mountain Guide

I was born in 1990 in Lus la Croix Haute, a small village nestled between the Vercors and the Dévoluy, and right on the border of 3 French departments: Isere, Hautes Alpes and Drome.

I started practicing mountain sports at a very young age: skiing first and then then mountain biking. At the age of 7, I started ski touring on the trail just above my house with my father and my sister. And then, a few years later, I gave my first steps in ski mountaineering: Pelvoux traverse at 9, Dome de Miage on skis at 10 and the Meije traverse at 12.

I've always enjoyed competition and started competing in ski mountaineering since I was very young. I've won Pierra Menta twice and the World Championship four times.

Becoming a mountain guide has always been my dream and I'm very happy to see it come true. I have also started paragliding recently and I hope to be able to combine it with my mountain guiding business one day.

I currently live in St Nicolas de Véroce in Haute Savoie. My father's family comes from this village and it is here that I learned to ski. It holds a dear place in my heart and it is here that I feel most at home.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
