Would you like to join an amazing 38-day expedition to the Cho Oyu summit! This stunning mountain lies on the border between Nepal and Tibet and boasts an altitude of 8,188 meters (26,864 ft), making it the 6th highest summit in the world. In addition, it is also considered the most straightforward 8000m peak.
However, as with any mountain of such height, it is a serious climb that requires good preparation as well as an excellent fitness level. We’ll ascend through its northwest face, starting from Tibet. This route takes us up through easy snow slopes. There will be only one steep serac barrier that we must face at an altitude of 6400 meters (20997 ft).
As for the itinerary, we’ll meet up in Kathmandu where we’ll prepare our equipment and fly to Lhasa in Tibet. There, we’ll first do some previous acclimatization treks around Tingri. Our first-night camps will be at altitudes of around 4900m-16,072ft. We will then move to our base camp to finally spend 2 or 3 nights in intermediate campsites at altitudes of around 5400m (17,712ft). That way we will gradually gain altitude until we’re ready for our big goal. You can find a detailed day by day itinerary below.
Although Cho Oyu is a non-technical peak, it will be necessary to have some previous high-altitude climbing experience. And if you are and expert backcountry skier this mountain also gives you the chance of a fantastic ski descent!
Regarding the physical requirements, you will need to be extremely fit with a strong physical resistance. Of course, mental toughness also plays a big role. So you’ll need both a physical and mental preparation.

Mountain Guide
I have been climbing since 1996, starting on the 8000m mountains in the Himalaya. I'm one of the few IFMGA/NNMGA certified mountain guides (Instructor) from south Asia, gaining my qualification from the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association (NZMGA) & Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA).
I have successfully guided on Mt Everest on multiple occasions, and other 8000m peaks such as Mt Cho-oyu (8,201m) (3 times), Sisha Pangma (8,013m), Mt. Manaslu (8,163m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Mt. Makalu (8,463m), Mt. Lhotse (8,515m) and many more.
I have have also a strong international climbing experience and extensive knowledge of the logistics, planning and group dynamic that are also very crucial to successfully lead adventures in the Himalaya and around the world. I guided in New Zealand, Norway, France, Scotland, Thailand, Bhutan, Pakistan, India and Tibet.
I'm also a rescue expert and a technical trainer for the mountain guides training.
I very much like guiding my clients in remote places, where no tourist goes. I like also discovering new routes and peaks. Please have a look to the different trekking and mountaineering expeditions I propose and contact me if you want to discuss about them. I can of course also guide you in more 'classic' routes, just get in touch with me and let's talk about your wishes!

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
