Today I am inviting to an advanced ski touring expedition, only for brave people! It is about a medium-to-hard-level trip in the West Fjords with 1 or more days of duration.

West Fjords are an amazing ski touring spot is Iceland and it’s ideal for those who enjoy being surprised by something new each day. I mean you must be ready for everything. Some days it is not possible to ski because of bad weather (guiding will not be charged). Or may we will be stuck in the middle of an Iceland storm (it is really exciting!)

The best part of this trip is the extra activities you will do in case of those kind of incidentals. You can stay in the town, visit the local swimming pool or may go surfing.

But I have even more reasons why I would like to be your guide in this ski touring trip in West Fjords:

Beautiful views, skiing down to the ocean
Home area (where I grew up)
Great opportunity to advanced skiing : couloirs, big mountain skiing
Very isolated place, very few tourists
Small town in the middle of nowhere – Off the beaten tracks

I recommend the months of March, April and May. But the off season is also really good, specially from November 25th to end of February. Although the climate during the off season is variable and there are only few hours of light, I think it is a great opportunity to ski during the northern light. It will be an unforgettable experience!

If you come to Iceland, don’t forget to take your ski crampons. And if you can also take your own equipment, it will be better. Rental equipment in West Fjords is not always good.

The price is 50K per day for groups of no more than 6 participants. The price includes guiding fee, safety training and food cooked by Nanny, my mum 😉
