Description

Mountain bike in the heart of the Julian Alps in the vibrant Slovenian wilderness to the coastal town of Piran, that looks out at the Adriatic Sea.

Trails zigzag and wind through the mountains and wild valleys in the western part of the country.

Untouched nature is your constant companion as you head from summit to sea, flanked by spectacular landscapes.

We’ll be in Kranjska Gora, a mountain town in the Upper Carniola region, resting in the heart of the Julian Alps. It is located in the extreme northwest, along the border with Italy and Austria.

Our end destination is the Mediterranean town of Piran, that peers out at the waters of the Adriatic Sea.

The route along the way carves through the stunning Soča Valley, scattered with flourishing vineyards below the iconic karst mountain peaks.

Green alpine meadows, emerald rivers and enormous peaks make up the collection of landmarks along the way.

During the week-long adventure, you’ll explore the Triglav National Park, experience cosy and charming hotels, UNESCO-listed landscapes and rich and tasty local flavours.

Day 1: Kranjska Gora

Morning Introductory meeting / Hotel, Kranjska Gora.Transfer to Belopeška lakes (Laghi di Fusine).Cycling from Belopeška lakes to Kranjska Gora via Tromeja / Triple Border (22 km / 680 m / 4-5h)Accommodation in a hotel***, Kranjska Gora.

Day 2: Kranjska Gora - Bovec

Breakfast in hotel.Biking from Kranjska Gora to Bovec via famous Vršič Mountain Pass (1611 m) and along upper Soča Valley (51 km / 1.100m / 6-8h).Accommodation in a hotel***, Bovec.

Day 3: Bovec - Kobarid

Breakfast in hotel.Cycling from Bovec To Kobarid via Mt. Kobariški Stol by single trails and old mule-track road (43 km / 1.235 m / 5-6h).Accommodation in a hotel***, Kobarid.

Day 4: Kobarid to Tolmin

Breakfast in hotel.Cycling from Kobarid to Tolmin via Drežnice and Krn village and famous Tolmin Gorge (40 km / 1.420 m / 5-6h).Accommodation in a hotel***, Tolmin.

Day 5: Tolmin to Šmartno (Collio)

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger.
