Description

Join this spectacular climbing adventure to the summit of Ben Nevis. Reach the top of the highest peak in the British Isles, on this trip in the Scottish Highlands in the UK.

Ben Nevis rises at 1,345 meters, in the western part of the Grampian Mountains right at the heart of the Lochaber area, in Scotland, near Fort William.

This dazzling mountain offers endless climbing options, from rock climbing for all levels on its 700 meters cliffs on the north part, to impressive ice climbing walls. But it is the classical climbing routes here that attract more people during the summer months.

We have designed this trip so that you get the most of this amazing experience. You’ll get all the attention of a local expert guide, who will share with you the best spots here.

Essential Items for your Ben Nevis ascent:

  • Small rucksack (back pack) – big enough to carry your personal equipment, food and drink. A waterproof liner or plastic bag inside is highly recommended to keep things dry.
  • Waterproof jacket and trousers. Jacket must have a hood. A shell type jacket (without padding or insulation) is recommended.
  • Insulating jacket or jumper. Polyester type fleece is recommended. Warm hat and gloves.
  • Walking Boots or sturdy trainers with good grip.
  • Food and water or drink.
  • Personal first aid items - blister plasters (compeed), suncream

Recommended Items I also recommend avoiding using cotton clothing. Cotton holds the water and is slow to dry which will cause you to become cold and uncomfortable. A nylon / polyester type next to skin or baselayer is recommended. Denim jeans are not recommended. Walking poles - these can make the coming down a bit easier on the knees.

Physical fitness and medical conditions Mountain activities requires a good level of personal fitness. You are responsible for ensuring you are physically fit enough to complete the day. If you are on any medication or have any medical conditions that may cause a problem during the day, you are politely requested to inform your instructor (e.g. asthma – carry an inhaler, diabetes etc.).

Mountain Guide

I hold a Mountaineering Instructor Certificate (MIC). I am fully qualified to guide and instruct all aspects of mountaineering and climbing in the UK throughout the year. Also, I am a full member of the Mountain Training Association (MTA) and the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI).

I love climbing and this passion has taken me all over the world, even to the summit of Mount Everest. I have also climbed in the Andes, as well as in the Alps, Norway and Canada. I reached the summit of Mount Everest on May 2001, as a member of the RAF Mountain Rescue Service Everest North Ridge expedition.

I first started mountaineering in Scotland with the RAF Mountain Rescue Service, over 20 years ago. Since then, I haven't stopped climbing and exploring new mountains in the UK and abroad. I have been a RAF Mountain Rescue Team Leader and also the Chief Instructor for 5 years. I have also climbed all the Munros, the Scottish peaks above 3000 feet.

I love climbing around North Wales and the rest of the UK. We have so many amazing climbing and scrambling spots to discover in this area! I enjoy taking my clients there for rock climbing, scrambling and mountain skills courses or for a guided day out.

We can set up a program according to your level and wishes. Contact me and we can start planning your next mountain adventure right away!

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Maxine

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
