Join me for a weekend autonomous climbing course in the French Pyrenees. We will go to the Chemin de la Mature, the Pic du Midi d’Ossau or Mont Rebei. The Pyrenees offer an extremely wide choice of climbing sites in non-equipped or semi-equipped terrain.
This course will give you the keys to apprehend climbing in adventure or semi-equipped terrain. So, climbing with little or no equipment.
We will work on:
– Building a relay in non-equipped terrain
– Setting suitable return points
– Placing friends, nuts, rope rings, depending on the terrain
– Managing both strands of ropes
– Anticipating your protections according to the terrain

Today we learn progressively what I mentioned in the main text. We will spend the day in a site adapted to learn and practice techniques
We will revise some of the technique and put them in practice on varied routes. The objective is for you to acquire the tools to adapt during your future autonomous adventures. You will climb a multi-pitch route, non-equipped or semi-equipped. I will choose the routes depending on your level and experience.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me!
