Description
In the Dolomites, the best areas to practice the off-piste/freeride and steep skiing jointing the lift all around are Marmolada, Sella Group, Arabba, and Cortina. All of these ski resorts offer many different kinds of activities; depending on the skill level, it is possible to find the best option.
What I am proposing to you today is a full-day off-piste skiing program in the Dolomites. This adventure includes great off-piste itineraries around Arabba, Marmolada Glacier, and Sella Group. And what’s more, once in Marmolada, you will enjoy a steep fall from the top of the glacier to its base at 1.490 meters of altitude.
If I had to sum up the main reasons why I want to invite you there I’d list the following ones:
- Marmolada is a great place for starting off-piste skiing. This is a perfect spot for those who want to approach off-piste skiing from normal ski pistes. Also, there are really nice viewpoints to admire the Marmolada Glacier.
- The Sella Group offers a unique area to discover many different couloirs with steep skiing, and mountaineering activities in combination with crampons and ice axes, which are easy to intermediate ski tours with amazing views surrounded by towers and peaks. Generally, it is better to have skin equipment to move easily everywhere.
- Arabba is another area with amazing opportunities, especially with off-piste slopes in the middle of trees and forests. It is always nice keeping really good snow conditions.
- Another plus point to keep in mind is that Arabba has the best ski runs on its north face so free-riders can enjoy the highest quality snow in the area.
- Cortina is famous for sure since it is one of the main villages of the Dolomites. The off-piste skiing opportunity is great.
- All these places offer off-piste skiing options for everyone. From easy tracks for beginners to serious runs for advanced skiers, steep skiing, rappelling on couloir, and mountaineering experience.
- However, although the area receives all levels of guests, this program specifically requires minimal experience at red pistes (intermediate level).
Nevertheless, you don’t have to worry! I am here to guide you and put all my background at your service. I have climbed most of the mountains surrounding us here, so I commit to you to take the best from this experience.

More info
You need off-piste ski equipment. Sometimes it is better to have skin to reach the places but it depends on your wishes and level. Kit ARTVA (ARTVA + PROBE + Shovel) can be provided if needed. It is possible to rent ski touring equipment, crampons, or ice axes. There are many rental places in the area with good materials.

Mountain Guide
I started my career as an aerospace engineer, my first passion and then became a full-time IFMGA mountain guide, my second passion, since 2013. Working as a mountain guide gratifies me a lot. I enjoy very much transmitting my knowledge about the mountains and its activities to my friends and clients.
