Description

Ama Dablam (6856m) is one of the most beautiful and sought-after peaks of the world, alongside the Khan Tengri and Matterhorn. That's why I offer this 28-day challenge through its southeast ridge, which is perfect for expert mountaineers.

The ascent to Camp 1 (5800 m) is quite straight forward. However, from there the climb gradually gets steeper as we enter the rocky southwestern ridge of the mountain. In order to finally approach the Ama Dablam's summit, we must then walk on some 45-degree snow slopes.

Regarding the itinerary, this expedition takes 28 days and also includes an ascent to the Lobuche Peak. We'll meet up in Kathmandu where we'll prepare our equipment and fly to Lukla. Here starts the acclimatization process with some treks to Lobuche across Namche Bazar and also to Pangboche, Kalapattar and Dingboche. By day 12 we'll be at a high camp near the Lobuche Peak so we can reach its summit on day 13.

After that, we must return to Pangboche in order to head to Ama Dablam. The ascent to our big goal starts on day 16. Once we did it we will trek back down to Lukla and then fly to Kathmandu, where we'll arrive by day 28. Of course this is a sample itinerary and can change according to weather and group conditions.

As for the physical and technical requirements, keep in mind that Ama Dablam is a serious climb. You must have an extensive knowledge of the use of ropes and technical equipment.

And if you don't have much climbing experience I strongly recommend to join me beforehand for this Everest Base Camp guided hiking tour. It's a good option to pre-acclimate your body and review some skills needed for the ascent.

Please feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions. I will be very happy to guide you to the Ama Dablam's summit. As a local IFMGA mountain guide, I can guarantee the safest experience!

Mountain Guide

I have been climbing since 1996, starting on the 8000m mountains in the Himalaya. I'm one of the few IFMGA/NNMGA certified mountain guides (Instructor) from south Asia, gaining my qualification from the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association (NZMGA) & Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA).
I have successfully guided on Mt Everest on multiple occasions, and other 8000m peaks such as Mt Cho-oyu (8,201m) (3 times), Sisha Pangma (8,013m), Mt. Manaslu (8,163m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Mt. Makalu (8,463m), Mt. Lhotse (8,515m) and many more.
I have have also a strong international climbing experience and extensive knowledge of the logistics, planning and group dynamic that are also very crucial to successfully lead adventures in the Himalaya and around the world. I guided in New Zealand, Norway, France, Scotland, Thailand, Bhutan, Pakistan, India and Tibet.
I'm also a rescue expert and a technical trainer for the mountain guides training.
I very much like guiding my clients in remote places, where no tourist goes. I like also discovering new routes and peaks. Please have a look to the different trekking and mountaineering expeditions I propose and contact me if you want to discuss about them. I can of course also guide you in more 'classic' routes, just get in touch with me and let's talk about your wishes!

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Maxine

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
