A mountaineering and photography course for 2 days in the best spots of the Mont Blanc and Monte Rosa ranges together with Fred, IFMGA guide and photographer.

2 Days

May - Oct

Description

This photography course in the heart of the Alps is especially designed for expert mountaineers and photographers. All participants must have some previous climbing experience and a vast knowledge in the use of crampons and ice axe.

With the help and expertise of a certified mountain guide, you'll have the opportunity to access technical terrain and shoot unique angles. Our main spots are in the Mont Blanc or Monte Rosa mountain ranges, depending on weather conditions.

During this 2 day alpine and photography course in the Alps you'll learn how to be precise in your goals and shots so you can capture the beauty of such a wonderful landscape.

Content of the photography course:
  • You'll learn how to manage your photo equipment in hostile climates and conditions;

  • Discover how to use the mountain as an artistic, abstract, landscape and/or action background;

  • Learn to move safely, anticipating the right angles for specific shots and managing light.

As for the fitness level, keep in mind that we will walk around 4 to 6 hours per day. You should also consider the weight of the backpack which must carry both mountaineering and photo equipment. In addition it will be necessary to have some prior experience in mixed alpine terrain.

I will guide a group of 2 participants. All members should be older than 18 years (minors must be accompanied by an adult). Once you book your places I will provide you a complete equipment list.

Of course that the Alps have a wide variety of summits from where we can take great pictures. I usually recommend the Meige, Monte Rosa, Eiger or the Matterhorn. If you've doubts I can help you decide which is the perfect for you.

It is possible to participate in this workshop with an Expert compact or hybrid camera. It is important to have manual options with time lapse and opening adjustments. Moreover, you must have some basic knowledge of the use of professional camera's settings.

Other photo workshops I offer in the area: this 2-day trip in Chamonix.

Please feel free to get in touch with me if you are interested in this program. It will be my great pleasure to bring you up there and teach you to take great shots.

Mountain Guide

I'm a IFMGA certified mountain guide, ski instructor and mountain bike instructor. I'm originally from the Chartreuse mountain range, between Grenoble and Chambéry in France. My passion for steep skiing starts early on in my mountain guide career. With time, I have specialized in skiing steep technical faces in high altitudes. I spent five years coaching freestyle moguls and was recruited to prepare the French Olympic freestyle mogul team. I took care of the team's physical and mental preparation for the Salt Lake City Olympic games in 2002.
My eyes continue to gaze towards the mountains, and I pursue my skiing objectives at higher altitudes, making an attempt to climb and ski Mount Everest in 2005. The plan is to be lightweight and climb alpine style, without oxygen or Sherpa assistance. After three summit attempts, bad weather and extremely violent and high winds, force me down the mountain.
With over 20 years of experience in the mountains, I have guided clients throughout the world. I have climbed and skied in almost all of Europe's mountain ranges, as well as in Nepal, Morocco, China, Canada, Peru, New Zealand, Iceland and the USA.
As a professional IFMGA mountain guide, I'm involved in managing group safety, choosing back drops for film and photo shoots, organising logistics for corporate clients and much more.
I have also co-founded with my wife Emily a guiding team called PeakPowder. I'm working now together with an amazing team of IFMGA mountain guides : Michael, Laurent and Jérôme. We are a very complementary team. We strive to keep each guiding day personalised and unique, making sure that each client gets the most out of the 'mountain' experience.
I also work as a professional photographer, with a creative eye and natural feeling for light. After spending years in front of the camera as a sports model, I'm now the one taking the shots.

What people are saying about Explore-Share

Man

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Maxine

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
