In the Ailefroide Gorges, there is a fantastic via ferrata course I would like to guide you through.

Located in the Gorges Torrent d’Ailefroide, near the village of Pelvoux les Claux, in the valley of Vallouise in the Pays des Ecrins, the via ferrata we will be enjoying is an exciting and wonderfully scenic.

Positioned in a narrow gorge, we will be making our way from one bank to another. Despite appearing precarious, you can rest assured that you will be safe and secure the entire time. In fact, the via ferrata is so safe, and so accessible, that children as young as 8 years old can enjoy it!

There are also cable bridges that rest above the Torrent of Ailefroide river that we can traverse on this trip as well. Fed by the white glacier, the river is a beautiful sight.

There are three parts on this via ferrata course. And while the first part will be the purpose of this half-day trip, you can also enjoy the longer, integral part as well. And while it is longer than the first part, it is only slightly more challenging. As a result, children as young as 10 years old can enjoy it.

Because of the minimal level of difficulty and non-technical nature of this trip, no prior experience is required. However, you should be in good physical condition.

Price details

The prices for the integral portion of the via ferrata program is 228 Euros for 1 person, 114 Euros per person for 2 people, 76 Euros per person for 3 people, 57 Euros per person for 4 people, 46 Euros per person for 5 people and 38 Euros per person for 6 people.
Along with the guiding fee, the price also includes the loan of common technical equipment, including ropes, quick draws, harnesses with via ferrata lanyards, helmets, backpacks and carabiners.

Participants should bring the following items with them: sunglasses, helmet, fleece jacket or warm sweater, light but strong pants, a pair of shoes fit for trail walking, climbing shoes, harnesses, a small backpack (30-40L), a gourd, some food, sunscreen, lip balm and a camera, valid identity card or passport.

Meeting point

The meeting point will be established prior to the beginning of the trip and will depend on the climbing location. While transportation is not included in the price, I would be happy to consider a carpool if we can set up a meeting place between my home and the trip's starting point. I leave from L'Argentiere la Bessee.
