Come join Jenaro, certified IFMGA guide, in this 9-day Nevado Jankohuma ascent. Summit the third highest peak in Bolivia, and enjoy the magic scenery!

9 Days

May - Jul, Sep

Description

Nevado Jankohuma is the third highest mountain in Bolivia. And it is waiting for you to come and climb it!

During this 9-day Nevado Jankohuma guided ascent I'll take you to a considerable hard technical climb. But gentler than other peaks in the area. Because, even being higher than Nevado Illampu -its neighbour to the north- it is a simpler climb.

Nevado Jankohuma -or Ancohuma- gets its name from the Aymara dialect. Meaning "crystal clear water". It lies at the northern Cordillera Real, east of Lake Titicaca. And, being 6427 m over sea level, it's only exceeded by Sajama (6542 m) and Illimani (6462 m).

It's probably needless to try to explain the beautiful scenery which surrounds it. The views of the high plateau, and of the impressive Illampu to the north, are shocking from the way up. Since it's a mountain not so frequent among mountaineers, the solitude from the path lets you enjoy the wonders of the nature.

We'll start our journey in the town of Sorata (2700 m). After an exclusive 4X4 transfer from La Paz, we'll visit the San Pedro Caves. And the next day, after a good night of sleep in a hotel, we'll approach the summit from the west.

It will take us 5 days of gradual ascent to reach the Summit. Always acclimatizing and resting when needed. So you'll enjoy the adventure as much as possible! Then 2 more days to descend and another one to get you back to La Paz.

So don't hesitate to contact me to go for this amazing and original adventure! And if you're looking to climb even higher peaks in the area, check my other trips: Sajama Ascent and Climbing Illimani.

Mountain Guide

I work together with several IFMGA/UIAGM colleagues. So if I'm not available to guide you, one of my colleagues equally certified will guide you.

I began to climb the mountain when I was 15 years old. I was born in Pinaya (3.800 m.a.s.l.), a region located not far away from the top of the base camp of the majestic snow-covered Illimani (6.462 m.a.s.l.). I dedicated most part of my life to climb different ice and Rock Mountains through the Cordillera Real, Cordillera Occidental, and Cordillera de Apolobamba.

What people are saying about Explore-Share

Man

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Maxine

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
