Description

Explore the largest national park in Finland and one of the most remote areas in the world on an eight-day ski touring adventure! This immersive guided program uncovers the fascinating flora and fauna of a remarkable region while providing over a week of incomparable backcountry skiing on untouched snow!

The Lemmenjoki National Park extends over 2,860-square kilometers in Finnish Lapland, making it the largest of its kind in the Nordic country. It is home to wild reindeer and immense spruce forests. Visitors can expect to spot bears, eagles, and wolves among other wild inhabitants, though the most captivating feature of this landscape is its impeccably serene beauty. It even has a compelling gold prospecting history begging to be dug up!

This stunning region is a perfect destination for backcountry skiers to discover the unequaled atmosphere that exists solely in Lapland. Your hut-to-hut ski touring program provides just that, sending you to the most accommodating ski conditions in a world-class environment. Over eight days you will experience life like a Finn and enjoy the finer aspects of its remote culture and entertainment.

We will have the option to stay in with locally-owned wilderness cabins, immersing us into the Sami culture of northern Finland and the stunning landscape. Experiencing this ski adventure like a local is a truly enriching feature to our program, and it will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on you and your fond memories.

Our days will consist of long and short backcountry objectives, aiming to achieve local goals like skiing along the Lemmenjoki River, snowshoeing to the summit of Morgan-Viibus, and photographing frozen waterfalls lost in the remote forests. You can even build your own “quinzee” – a hollowed-out snow shelter that mildly resembles an igloo. Sleeping in your quinzee is not required – unless you want to!

This experience is rare and unlike any other, so I always jump at the chance to introduce fellow skiers to it. I will guide you on a safe and satisfying trip through the wilds of Finland, so you can make lifetime memories in this gorgeous landscape. You will undoubtedly cross more than a couple items off of your bucket list along the way.

You should be in very good shape to complete the program, and the harsh weather and conditions of the region make it a challenging endeavor. You should have substantial backcountry experience and be prepared for the hostile environment and all that it can throw at you.

Book this unbelievable hut-to-hut ski touring program IMMEDIATELY and make this winter THE winter you finally make your Finnish backcountry dream come true!

Finnland is full of many other opportunities as well, like backcountry skiing in eastern Lapland and a guided ski touring program in the Kasivarsi Wilderness Area over eight days! Let me know if you are interested in one of these trips and we can make it happen!

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
