The Lyngen Alps are a truly stunning mountain range in northeastern Norway. More than 90 kiometres long and following the path of the Lyngen fjord, this region is spectacular!
After setting sail we are going to pass through some of the most stunning landscapes you can imagine. Fjords, mountains and glaciers will surround us and, with the boat as transport, we can reach ski lines that would otherwise be unreachable.
Even without the skiing, just sailing in this location is epic with summit to sea views all day everyday. Our daily routine will look something like this: We sail during the night, have breakfast on the boat, ski-tour in the morning, enjoy a picturesque lunch at the top and then ski back to the boat.
Once on the boat we will dine on local fish, relax in a sauna or take an artic water plunge. And even if all that weren´t enough, we will also get to enjoy the Northern Light. So far, we got to see them on all our trips in the area!
Another beauty of having the boat is that we have great flexibility. We can choose where we want to go and assess the weather conditions as we travel and therefore pick the best lines.
The Lyngen Alps is renowned for its powder snow and this will be available whether on open glades that arrive to the ocean or on steep couloirs.
On this 8-day program, we will enjoy 6 days of ski touring. You can expect to climb about 1000-1200 metres per day for 6 days. For this reason, you should be reasonable fit to enjoy this schedule and ideally have some ski touring experience.
Along with myself, there will be other highly experienced and certified guides to ensure the trip runs as smoothly as possible. We will observe your technique and will happily give you feedback and tips.
So how does sailing through fjords and skiing from summit to sea sound? Sign up now for this unforgettable trip in pristine wilderness and I’ll be waiting to share it with you!

What flight should I book to join this trip? When and where should I fly in and out?
You have to fly to Tromsø Airport, Langnes. The ARRIVAL DATE and TIME has to be Saturday (first day of the trip) no later than 12:00pm (noon), or Friday (day earlier, any time).
The departure destination is also Tromsø Airport, Langnes, and your departure flight should be Saturday -last day of the trip- any time (breakfast is served on the boat at 8:00 am), or Friday (day earlier) after 21pm.
If you have problems finding a flight that would fit this schedule, please get in touch, we can organize extra nights in Tromsø.
What happens if I arrive before the starting day of the trip? Or if I stay a few days after?
In case you arrive before the start of the camp, or stay a few days after, we recommend choosing one of the following hotels for the extra nights: Hotel Viking Tromso or Clarion Hotel Aurora. They are both experienced in receiving guests from our trips.
Where will we stay during the ski and sail tour? How is accommodation organized?
During the trip, we will stay on the boat. We hire the boat from a local charter company with a long history and skippers with good knowledge of the area. It is a comfortable 47-foot or 50-foot long yacht with 5 cabins and 3-4 bathrooms + showers with a common area and kitchen. There are both twin rooms (with bunk beds) and double rooms.
Under which conditions will we sail? Can seasickness be an issue?
Lyngen fjords are calm waters so seasickness is generally not an issue on our trips. In 5 years of making the trips, there were only a handful of clients with mild and short sea sickness.
When and where will we meet to start the trip?
We will meet at BOREAL YACHTING marina in Eidkjose (address: Eidvegen 666, 9100 Kvaløysletta, map: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Boreal+Yachting/@69.6735166,18.7465569,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x45c4c70081f50c27:0x1c025e8869250ac7!8m2!3d69.6729986!4d18.74605?hl=en).
Around 2 days before the trip we will send you an email with an invitation to a WhatsApp group and also inform you about meeting time in the marina (if everyone is arriving on time, it should be early afteroon, we will confirm in the email).
How can I get to the meeting point (The Marina)?
From the airport, your can take either a taxi or bus.
TAXI: Best arranged just by walking to the car park in front of the airport and asking Tromsø Taxi (T logo on the door). Go to BOREAL YACHTING marina in Eidkjosen (address: Eidvegen 666, 9100 Kvaløysletta).
BUS: Very straighforward option. Much cheaper. Take bus number 42 to Eidkjosen and walk around 8 minutes to the marina.
Bus stop is located on the side closer to the airport. You will need Troms Billett app (available to download for apple or android).
Do I need my avalanche bag in Norway? Can I bring it with my luggage during the flights?
Yes. We strongly recommend it.
If you are flying with an airbag you will need to print IATA terms (https://www.iata.org/contentassets/6fea26dd84d24b26a7a1fd5788561d6e/dgr-62-en-2.3a.pdf) and Description of your cartridge (you will find it on the brand's website) and show it to airport stuff upon check-in luggage scan.
Bring your avalanche bag as Carry-On and ideally inform your airline, that you will be transporting such airbag. Do not leave your backpack as check in luggage. You'll run the risk of having it detained during transport.
Can I rent gear from you or in Tromso?
Yes. In case you need to borrow some equipment, we recommend you to do it with Tromso Outdoors.
What do I need to consider when getting travel insurance for this trip?
Please consider these requirements when getting insurance for this trip:

I'm a UIAGM certified guide, skitouring-freeride and heliski guide. I'm a lifelong skier, climber and mountaineer, born in Prachovske skaly, a famous sandstone climbing area in the Czech Republic.
I've personally participated in 13 expeditions to 8thousander peaks and stood 5 times on an 8000m peak. I have guided guests on all continents (7 summits, etc..) in numerous treks, climbing or skitouring expeditions.
I run a guiding company in Prague and work for Patagonia, SKI TRAB and ABS avalanche backpacks. I spend my winter guiding in the Northern hemisphere, including heliski in Lappland (SWE), ski touring in Morocco or enjoying the best powder snow on earth in Japan.
The rest of the time I'm on expeditions in Nepal or South America and I spend most of the summer climbing in my hometown or guiding in the Alps.
I like Czech beer and food, passionate guests and jokes. If I'm not available my team will guide you instead.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
