Bariloche has some of the most amazing sceneries in Patagonia and this Five lagoons traverse from Colonia Suiza to Pampa Linda traverse will take you through some of them.
This 5-day program is also known as the 5 lagoons trek, because during the journey we’ll go by 5 different lagoons and each of them has a special feature.
It’s a demanding hike because for 5 days you’ll be hiking for 5 or more hours, but it’s also an unforgettable experience that goes through green valleys, blue lagoons, panoramic ridges and a stunning landscape dominated by the always white Mount Tronador.
We’ll start our trip in Bariloche, from where we’ll take a transfer to Colonia Suiza and start our hike. The first night we’ll stay in the Italian Mountain hut right on the edge of the Laguna Negra. The following days we’ll camp in remote places where only the mountains and the sky will surround us. It’s an amazing landscape where thick forest turn into steep slopes of rocks and sand.
The remaining 4 lagoon will be the CAB, Azul, Jujuy and the breathtaking Ilon with the Tronador in the back.
So don’t hesitate and send me a request to make this Five lagoons traverse from Colonia Suiza to Pampa Linda hiking traverse happen for you!
And if you’re looking for a higher experience in this area, please take a look at my Summit the Tronador from the Meiling Hut.
We’ll start hiking from Colonia Suiza along a wide path, surrounded by a beautiful transition forest. Then continue until the Italian Mountain Hut at the edge of the Lagoon. Overnight at the Refugio.

We’ll hike to the path that separates the Black Mountain from Mount Bailey Willis. Then the trail descends westwards until crossing the ‘creek Lluvco’. Then we’ll ascend to Laguna CAB. Camp and overnight in the lagoon.

We’ll start hiking around the CAB Lagoon, and then ascend to the CAB Hill and then hike down to the Sweet Mate Valley. Camp and overnight in the Valley.
Estimated time: 6/7 hours.
We’ll start early because it’s the longest day. We’ll ascend to a ridge with a beautiful and wide view of Mount Tronador and its surroundings. From this point we’ll descend towards the Cretton Lagoon and walk by a ridge to watch the Azul Lagoon to our left until we get Jujuy Lagoon. Then descend to Laguna Ilon. Camp and overnight in the lagoon.

Descent to Pampa Linda. If you want to before descending we can go to La mirada del doctor, an amazing viewpoint over a rock. Arrival to Pampa Linda, and transfer to Bariloche.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
