Come and join me on this 5-day hut to hut ski tour in Carros de Foc.

Carros de Foc is a great mountain traverse inside the Aigüestortes and Sant Maurici National Park. It is located in the heart of the Pyrenees in the Lérida province, western Catalonia.

Due to its amazing landscapes and excellent refuges facilities, Carros de Foc is one of the most famous ski tours of the Pyrenees. During this 5-day trip, you will appreciate two amazing ski runs between the Aran Valley and the Ribagorza region.

I will also guide you through the mountain refuges of Ventosa i Calvell (2220 m), Estany Llong (2000 m), Amitges (2310 m) and Colomers (2100 m). These are four of the nine huts in Carros de Foc which are located between 1900 and 2400 meters of height. You will find a more detailed itinerary of the tour below.

Remember that this is the classic hut-to-hut route. You can also ask me for different ski touring options (more or less days) or even for other refuges to visit in the area. Also take into account that you will need some previous experience in mountain skiing if you want to join this ski tour.

Itinerary

Day 1: Ventosa i Calvell hut

We’ll go from Pont de Resec to the Ventosa hut (2220 m) with the possibility to ascend the Montardo summit (2833 m).

Day 2: Estany llong hut

We’ll continue through the Carros de Foc route from the Ventosa hut trough the Collado de Contraix (2748 m), the highest point of the trip, until we reach the Estany llong refuge (1985 m).

Day 3: Amitges hut

We leave the hut and go through the Portarró de Espot (2427 m). On this day, we move to the Amitges refuge (2380 m).

Day 4: Colomers hut

We’ll continue our ski tour and slowly ascend to the Port de Ratera (2543 m). Then, our next stop will be the Colomers hut (2135 m).

Day 5: Good bye

We’ll return to the Pont de Resec, where this program ends.

Although I was born in the city, I was always in contact with the outdoors. My first steps on the mountain led me to the vertical world, rock climbing. Then came the ice climbing, mountaineering and skiing. These activities allowed me travel all over the world, especially Asia, Europe and Africa.

I consider The Pyrenees as the perfect place to live and a great field with the necessary ingredients to enjoy great wild activities. But I also enjoy and travel to other massifs, mainly to the Alps, also to the Atlas, and ocassionaly to other ranges around the world.

I’m an international UIAGM mountain guide, canyoning guide and ski instructor as well. I work as independent guide, which allows me to work following my own philosophy and values.

So far I have 16 years of experience as guide, and a few more as mountaineer. I enjoy all the mountain-related activities, but for guiding and as a sport. That’s why I’d like to show you the mountains the way I see them, without fixed structures but enjoying them with freedom and in a pleasurable way.
