Description

Around the Bernina Alps, the views are astonishing: glaciers, lakes and valleys, all part of a wonderful landscape that looks like a fresh painting. The cultural richness is also big if you decide to hike in the area.

On a 4-day trek, we will be able to explore the picturesque area of Maloja and Passo del Muretto, as well as the pristine waters of the Cavloc Lake. Also, we will hike on mountain flanks to reach Alpe Roggione, at 2000 m. Bocchel del Torno and Dosso dei Vetti offer great landscapes on their way to Campo Franscia.

The Gera Lake is also a beauty worth seeing as well as Val Poschiavo and Cavaglià. Glacier mills, mountain lakes and so much more are waiting for us if you join this expedition.

All these wonderful places (and more) could be the destination of your next adventure as long as you are physically fit and have a steady footstep. You just have to reach the green button and request this trip. We will do the rest.

You can also have a longer experience around the Bernina Alps, if you book this 7-day guided mountain trek.

Itinerary

Day 1: Maloja – Passo del Muretto – Rifugio Longoni CAI

Passing through woods and  a moorland, we reach the Cavloc Lake. Then, it gets steeper through the lonely Muretto valley to the pass (2562 m).  Afterwards, we descend towards Alpe Oro, over a historic mule track. Then we get back up to Alpe Fora and to the Longoni hut CAI (Club Alpino Italiano).

Day 2: Rifugio Longoni – Campo Franscia

We hike the Alta Via della Valmalenco high above the valley of the mountain flank. We reach the Alpe Roggione, at 2000 m. We continue to Bocchel del Torno and Dosso dei Vetti to Campo Franscia.

Day 3: Lago di Gera – Pass da Canfinal – Cavaglia

We drive to the dam of the Lago di Gera and reach the top of the wall via a dizzying concrete ramp (not dangerous). On the riverside path we reach the Alpe Gembré. The ascent to the Pass da Canfinal (2628 m) brings us back to Switzerland. It goes up over the Val Poschiavo on a high-altitude trail to Cavaglia.

Day 4: Cavaglia – Bernina Diavolezza

The day starts with a visit to the glacier mills in the glacier garden. Then, it follows with a ride on the train to Alp Grüm.  Then, we walk to Sassal Mason with wonderful views of the Val Poschiavo and further into the wide valley of the Bernina Pass. The Lago Bianco, the mountain lakes, the Cambrena Glacier and the Bernina Express are the final destinations until we reach the Diavolezza cable car. We end our hike at the train station of Bernina-Diavolezza.

Mountain Guide

... over all hills! Away from the hustle and bustle, I accompany you through the impressive nature of the mountains. In good company, you can relax on multi-day trekking, on a hike or in winter on snowshoes.

I was born in the Engadine in 1958 and grew up in Pontresina, only 8 km from the world-famous St. Moritz.

As a teenager I experienced a 5-year study visit in central Italy. This made Italy very dear to me and I then lived many years in Italy - in Chiavenna, not far from Lake Como. So I do not only know the Engadin / St. Moritz but also the Bernina south side, the Comersee region and the Splügenpass area like my trouser pocket.

I have been pursuing my hobbies "for a lifetime" - hiking, mountaineering, ski touring, delta flying, kayaking and traveling - since June 2015 I am a certified hiking guide SBV.

My current place of residence is Schlarigna, as Celerina / St. Moritz calls itself Romansh. Romansh is also my mother tongue - but of course I also speak German and Italian, in French and English I can communicate.

I would be happy to accompany you through my homeland, the Engadine, the Bernina south side, the Veltlin and the region of Lake Como. Together we experience beautiful days.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
