Description
Located close to Santa Marta, Magdalena, this incredible hiking path along a thick tropical rainforest takes you to the breathtaking Lost City, Teyuna, a city built in the 800’s by the indigenous Tayronas. Follow us for an unforgettable adventure in Colombia.
The Lost City (Ciudad perdida in Spanish) is hidden in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in the Colombian Caribbean. We can reach this area hiking for 4 to 6 days. The 4-day trek option is perfect for those with little time and in perfect physical conditions.
Our proposed itinerary is as follows:
Day 1: From Santa Marta, we’ll drive to El Mamey, where our hike to the first camp begins. The first camp is surrounded by rivers, natural pools and waterfalls, where we can relax after a long hiking day.
Day 2: We’ll hike for 7 hours along the Buritaca River and reach our camp for the night.
Day 3: The best of all days! We’ll reach the Lost City and your guide will tell you all about this magical place. There will be enough time to take pictures and relax. We’ll sleep at another camp.
Day 4: We’ll hike back to El Mamey and drive to Santa Marta.

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area.
