Description

Join me on this unique experience doing the 3-mile ski tour in Sierra Nevada, one of the best skiing trips that can be done in Spain!

All the way from Puntal de Juntillas (3140 meters) to El Caballo (3013 meters), we will be skiing the most important peaks in the region: Mulhacén (3482 m), Alcazaba (3366 m), Veleta (3398 m) just to name a few!

Our meeting point will be at the Postero Alto mountain hut located at 1900 meters and, from there, we will make our first ascent to Puntal de Juntillas (3140 meters). During the days to come, we will climb up to 15 different peaks located above 3000 meters!

Keep in mind that all participants must be skilled skiers and have an excellent fitness level.

Itinerary

Day 1: Postero Alto Refuge (1900 m) – Laguna de Vacares (2885 m).

From Postero Alto we began our ascent to the first three thousand: Puntal de Juntillas. We continue along the summit rope to Puntal de Vacares (3,182 m), where we descend to Laguna de Vacares to spend the night in bivouacs.

Day 2: Laguna de Vacares (2885 m) – Poqueira Refuge (2500 m).

We will start our day going northwest towards the Alcazaba (3,366 m). Afterwards we will descend  to Siete Lagunas and from here we will continue our tour to Poqueira mountain hut, where we will spend the night on a half-board basis.

Day 3: Poqueira Refuge (2500 m) – Vivac Refuge - Carihuela (3200 m).

We will start our day ascending the dry river valley towards the Cerro de los Machos and Pico del Veleta, we will dedicate this day to ski around the summits of the Central sector of the Sierra Nevada. Dinner and overnight in bivouac regime.  Carihuela or Elorrieta mountain hut (depending on conditions).

Day 4: Vivac Carihuela Refuge – Cortijo Echevarría (1955 m).

Lagunillas de la Virgen, Elorrieta (3,183 m), Cartujo (3152 m) and Cerro del Caballo (3,013 m). We will descend by the forest track in the direction of Nigüelas until Cortijo Echevarría (1955 m). Where an all-terrain vehicle will pick us up and take us back to town.

Transfer to Granada.

Required equipment: Sleeping bag, mat, 50L minimum backpack, full ski equipment with spare skins, mountain technical clothing, breathable T-shirt (not cotton), fleece lining, goretex jacket and trousers, buff, clothing coat (pen or primaloft), 1 change of dry clothes, sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, cutlery, attack food and bivouac, water and water purification tablets. Stove and gas (1 per couple, if you do not have we can leave you). Camping tent (1 per couple, if you can not, we can leave you)

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.
