Description
This 4-day Silvretta Alps traverse is perfect for the intermediate ski tourer. Join me on this expedition and bag some of the most famous peaks in these mountains!
The Silvretta Alps comprise around 70 peaks running along the Austrian-Swiss border. Their backcountry terrain is a favorite among ski tourers from every corner of the world!
If conditions are right, we'll go for the Piz Buin summit (3312 meters). Even if it's not the highest in the Silvretta Alps, it is the most popular among skiers and mountaineers.
This 4-day ski tour starts and finishes in Ischgl, Austria. Along the way, we'll stay in the best mountain huts in the Alps. We'll be greeted with great food, hot showers and lots of beer!
A maximum of 4 people can take this Silvretta Alps ski tour together. So get a group together and come enjoy the wonders these magnificent mountains have to offer! Also, an intermediate ski touring ability is a pre-requisite for the expedition.

- Half-accommodation: 60 EUR per day.
- Picnic lunch: 10 EUR.
- Lifts for the first day: 70 EUR

FAQs
What is the season where the huts are open in the Silvretta Alps?
The huts open from the middle of March until the beginning of May. Only the first one, Heidelberger hut, is open all winter. It's a nice place to do daily tours from the hut, stay 2-3 nights there and ski tour from there or go to the Dolomites.
Who books the huts in the Silvretta Alps?
We usually book the hut. Sometimes, the huts ask for a deposit, in that case, we will put clients in touch with the hut so that they can pay the deposit.
Are there any extra costs?
Some extra costs include lunch packet 12€/person, half board 65€/person.
What is the elevation gain?
900 meters up every day. If you are experienced and we are in a small 1 or 2 person group, we can also do some climbing (ski mountaineering) on some days.
What equipment do we need to take to the Silvretta Alps?
Skis with touring bindings, or splitboard, ski touring boots, skins, poles, and safety kit (probe, shovel, and the ARVA/transceiver), crampons and harness (eventually an ice axe, to be discussed), helmet. But if you want, you can rent the equipment.
What level is required for this ski touring program in the Silvretta Alps?
You need to be comfortable skiing/snowboarding off-piste. It's an easy traverse, with no steep kick turns going up. Skiing down is easy, it's never steep or narrow. It can be your first ski touring experience. Max 900 meters up every day.
Can splitborders join this ski touring trip?
Yes, but you need to be aware that the last day has flat areas.
Where can we rent the equipment?
In the city of Ischgl, which is the starting point. Good shops are "Handl's" and "Adler". We recommend you call the shop and book in advance (the best is to take the equipment the evening before day 1, but the morning of day 1 is also fine).
Where is the meeting point?
We will meet in Ischgl in the morning.
Where can I stay the night before the start and/or after the trip?
You can stay in Ischgl, Landeck or Kappl, but you have to book it yourself.
What amenities do the huts offer?
The huts are very comfortable and clean. They have good food, showers and boot heaters. You don't need to take a sleeping bag but you do need a liner and a towel.
Is it possible to extend the tour to 5 days?
Yes, it's possible.
Is this trip group or private?
It's private guiding only.

Mountain Guide
I was born in 1961, I live in Campitello di Fassa, in the Dolomites, together with my family. I have two sons, one is a mountain guide, the other is a ski instructor. I am a certified mountain guide since 1982, an instructor of guides, alpine ski instructor and a Federal coach for ISEF.
Being in the mountains has always been my passion, guiding people, teaching them climbing, mountaineering... during the various seasons of the year. I very much enjoy drawing nice curves in fresh powder snow and discover the charm of the frozen waterfalls.
My curriculum and professional mountaineering is made of many ascents and some openings of routes in the Dolomites and the Alps. I climbed in Yosemite Valley (California), Ben Nevis (Scotland) and Norway, Greece, Spain and Sardinia. I did also several high altitude climbs like Mt Denali (Alaska), Ama Dablam (6828m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Manaslu (8163m), Shivling in India (6545m), Cotopaxi and Chimborazo in Ecuador (5897m and 6310m), Patagonia (Argentina).
