Description

Three peaks stand out in the Bernese Alps: the Eiger, the Mönch and the Jungfrau. These radiant mountains are well known among mountaineers for their stunning beauty. Of course, these are the Alps so topping these peaks requires proper guidance. On this 4-day Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau ascent, I show you to the summit of all three beauties.

Our tour begins from Grindelwald. From there, we will set off on the Jungfraujoch train to the Eismeer station. From this viewpoint, we’ll descend through the tunnel to the exit to the glacier. After crossing the glacier, we will then climb to the Mittellegi hut where we will spend the night before beginning our ascent to the three peaks. From then on, each day we will explore a different mountain. We will begin with the challenging Eiger which will take us around 10 hours. We’ll spend the night in Mönchjochhutte. Then, on day 3 we will tackle the easiest of these peaks, the Mönch, in approximately 5 hours and will return to the Mönchjochhutte. Finally, on day 4, we will ascend to the Jungfrau and the excursion will last around 7 hours.  From there we will return to the charming Grindelwald.

Due to the terrains and altitudes we will be exposed to, it is important that you have prior experience and a good fitness level. We will go through exposed rocky ridges, and run into stunning glaciers, so be prepared! And be prepared to revel in the beauty of these mountains as well! Of course, I will be there every step of the way to help and guide you to the summits of these three beautiful mountains.

Are you ready for a challenging and rewarding mountaineering excursion in the Alps? Then book your place now and join me to the beautiful Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau summits on this 4-day trip!

Do you feel the three peaks might be too much to handle at once? Then you can also explore one at a time at a slower pace! For example, you can start off with this stunning 2-day Jungfrau excursion!

Mountain Guide

I was born in Kranj (Slovenia), and since I was a child the mountains have been my passion. I graduated in Sports at Ljubljana University and started an alpine career as a member of the Kranj Alpine Club.

In 1977, I climbed my first eight-thousander: it was a new route on Gasherbrum I. Some years later, a partner and I became the first Slovenians to ascend Mt Everest, also on a new route.

In fact, I’ve been at the top of Everest twice. The second time, I reached the summit with my wife Marija, and we were the first married couple achieving that.

Throughout my alpine career, I took part and even lead more than 20 expeditions in the Nepalese Himalayas. There, I climbed more than six peaks over eight thousand meters: two of them on new routes and three using pure alpine style. I also climbed in Patagonia, Pamir, USA, Caucasus and Scotland.

However, my major success was climbing a new route on Kangchenjunga, in alpine style and together with climber Marko Prezelj. After this, we won the prestigious mountaineering award Piolet d’Or.

I am a mountain guide since 1982 and I obtained my IFMGA license in 1997. I am also an instructor at the Slovenian Mountain Guide Association (SMGA).

I still live in Kranj with my wife and the youngest of our three children.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
