Description

Discover the Ranrapalca, an astonishing snow-covered summit from the Andes, on this 4-day climb in Peru.

Inside the Cordillera Blanca, the greatest tropical mountain range in the world, and among the highest peaks of Peru, the Ranrapalca stands out. This mountain is located in the Huascaran National Park and it is 6,162 meters above sea level. With its amazing characteristic shape, it is not as difficult as it seems. The Ranrapalca is often climbed by it northeast face, its normal and easiest route.

The meeting point of this 4-day climb will be the city of Huaraz. During this trip, we will visit the Ishinca Valley, one of the most popular starting points for several ascents in the area. Please take into account that a good level of fitness and prior mountaineering experience are requirements for this trip.

Itinerary

Day 1: Huaraz - Base Camp

We’ll drive during one hour from Huaraz to Pashpa, Tarica. From there, we’ll hike to the Base Camp (4,350 meters) through the Ishinca Valley for about 4 to 5 hours.

Day 2: High Camp

We’ll go from the Base Camp to the High Camp (5,300 meters). This hike will take us about 4 to 5 hours.

Day 3: Ranrapalca Summit

During the third day, you will reach the summit of the Ranrapalca in a 12 to 14 hour trek.

Day 4: Departure

It will take us around 4 to 5 hours to return to Pashpa. Then, We’ll drive back to Huaraz and say goodbye.

Percy Williams Dextre Henostroza who is a member of the Peruvian Mountain Guide Association (AGMP) for over 17 years and is fully certified by the Unión International Association of Mountain Guide (IFMGA-UIAGM). Percy who hails from a family of mountaineers, has worked and climbed all over Peru honing his skills over many years in the mountains. Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me!
