Hiking through Olympic National Park is the perfect way to sample the stunning beauty of the Pacific Northwest!
Over the course of four days, we will make our way through valleys, over waterfalls and up to the top of mountains. There will never be a dull moment as we camp each night on the shores of a different lake.
We begin our trip with a four hour drive from our meeting point in Richmond to the Sol duc Trailhead. From there we hike for a bit more than three miles to our first campsite at Deer Lake.
Along the way we will pass the spectacular Sol duc Falls and begin a fairly steep ascent to Deer Lake. By the top of the trail, most of the day hikers have gone home and we will be more secluded in this sublime nature.
On the second day, we will travel through a forest, enjoying lovely views from the occasional break in the trees. We will then make our way down to Lunch Lake and enjoy a nice and refreshing swim. After exploring a bit more of the area, we hunker down here for the night.
The next day, we hike up onto the High Divide Trail, enjoying views down into the valley floor below. We will eventually reach the Hoh Lake junction and take the path leading up to the summit of Bogachiel Peak, which will be our highest elevation of the trip, and where we receive stunning views of Mount Olympus.
On the final day, we will descend back to where we started through a lush forest composed of the park’s oldest growth hemlock and fir trees. The trail will eventually become more familiar as we approach the trailhead and our adventure will end.
So what are you waiting for? Book now for this beautiful four-day hike through some of Washington’s most spectacular scenery!
If you like the look of this trip then we think you might also enjoy our 4-day backpacking trip in Mount Rainier National Park!
Meeting point
We will head out from our meeting point in Redmond to the Sol duc Trailhead, which will take about four hours. Then we will hike from the trailhead to Deer Lake, which is about 3.4 miles with a 1,645 foot elevation gain.
We will hike for about 4.2 miles from one campsite to the next, gaining 494 feet of elevation along the way.
We will hike along the High Divide trail, with great views fo the valley floor below, for about 3.4 miles. We will only gain 274 feet of elevation today.
Today we will hike the 7.1 miles back to the trailhead. Along the way we will lose 2,868 feet of elevation.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
