Description

Explore the fantastic Zillertal Alps on a 4-day alpine tour and discover the incredibly rich biodiversity of the region.

The mountain range, in the Central Eastern Alps, lies on the border between Austria and Italy.

Soaring to a height of 3,510 meters, with its peak of Hochfeiler, the range is a valuable cultural landscape.

This high-speed tour takes place around the Berliner Hut, the largest and oldest in the Zillertal Alps, with fantastic access to a number of slopes.

Nestled between the wild glaciers of the region, it provides stunning views of the surrounding landscapes, as well as being the perfect starting point for numerous alpine tours.

During the 4-day trip we will ascend through Zemmgrund, and pass dramatic waterfalls before conquering Großer Möseler, which at 3,480 meters, is the second highest mountain in the Zillertal Alps.

It is necessary for potential participants to have a good level of fitness in order for the trip to be both fun and safe.

Itinerary

Day 1: Ascend to the Berliner Hut

We will ascend through the Zemmgrund, past impressive waterfalls, to the Berliner Hut at 2,042 m.

Day 2: Climb the Schwarzenstein

We start early towards the glacier and follow the Schwarzensteinkees to Schwarzenstein (3,369m). The descent takes us back to the Berliner Hut.

Day 3: Conquer the Großer Möseler

We follow the glacial moraines to Waxeggkees. Past mighty columns, we cross the border with Italy on the ridge. From the south we conquer the 3,480m-high Großer Möseler, the second highest mountain in the Zillertal Alps. Then descend back to the Berliner Hut.

Day 4: Pass crevasses to ascend Berlin

We start early to reach our third 3,000+ summit. Over the Hornkees we go past numerous crevasses. After a short climbing passage, we finally stand at the mountain of the Berliner hut, the 3,254 m high peak in Berlin. Our way leads us back into the valley past the Berliner Hut to the Gasthaus Breitlaner.

Mountain Guide

The mountains have always been a great part of my life. I was a youth leader of the Alpine Association of Zell am See, Bergrettungsmann, and completed the training as a ski and snowboard instructor. I studied meteorology because it can be very useful in mountaineering. My first trips took me to the Eastern Alps, around Piz Bernina and Biancogray. I also had the chance many times the amazing Mont Blanc range and the peaks around Chamonix. Finally, I got to practice in the high mountains of Bolivia and Chile.
I have really found my calling as a mountain guide. I am right where I always wanted to be. The smile on my clients' faces at the summit or after an intense ski day is so rewarding!
I am part of a team of local guides (Bergführer Zell am See Kaprun), all friends of mine, guys with whom I share the passion for the mountains. They are Markus B, Markus H and Gerald, all IFMGA certified guides. Our philosophy is "to know how to do something well is to enjoy it". Therefore, we always keep learning to give you the best experience.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger.
