Amazing 3 Summits Expedition in Perú. Join a local certified mountain guide, to climb up Yanapaccha (5450m), Pisco (5752m) and Chopicalqui (6354m) peaks.
17 Days
May - Aug
This 3 Summits Expedition is the perfect opportunity to get to know the Cordillera Blanca while climbing along magical mountains!
During the 17-day trip I will take you to three amazing peaks:
Yanapaccha (5450 m), Moderate difficulty.
Pisco (5752 m), Moderate difficulty.
Chopicalqui (6354 m), Demanding difficulty.
Along the journey I will show you the ancient surrounds, marvellous lagoons and magnificent valleys. Also we'll do lots of acclimatization hikes to stay in shape for the summits ascents. Besides that I include one instruction day to show you how to move along the glacier before ascending to the first peak.
Let me tell you a little bit more about the 3 Summits Expedition journey:
After landing in Lima, you'll have a day to explore the city if you wish. The next day we'll travel through the Pacific coastal desert and the Cordillera Negra to the city of Huaraz.
Here we'll spend two days doing acclimatization hikes to Laguna Wilcacoha and Laguna Churup. Because of their locations, both lagoons have exceptional viewpoints of the Cordillera Blanca. Therefore we'll be able to identify our aimed summits.
Now the real expedition begins. We'll take a minibus to the north village of Yungay. From here we'll do a 6 hour hike up to Laguna 69 and down to our first camp in Cebollapampa. The day after we'll climb up to Moraine Camp, in a 3-3.5 hour walk. Here we'll spend a day acclimatizing and preparing to cross glaciers and ice climbing.
On day 8 I'll take you to Yanapaccha summit, ascending through the west wall. Then we'll go down again to Cebollapampa Camp, which requires 3-4 rappels.
Next morning we'll hike for 2.5 hours to Pisco Base Camp, and spend the night on Peru Refuge. The equipment will be transported by donkeys so we travel light.
Day 10 is the Pisco summit! Therefore we'll have a 6-7 hours climb through the glacier, with magnificent views of numerous peaks. Then back down to the Base Camp again.
After so much effort we'll have an easy day descending to Cebollapampa and doing a short climb up to Chopicalqui Base Camp. The next day at midday, after breakfast and lunch, I'll guide you through a 4-5 hours climb to Moraine Camp. Then, the next morning we'll go up again through the glacier, crossing a number of crevasses, to the Chopicalqui High Camp, located in the glacier.
Day 14 is the real deal! The culmination of the expedition is a demanding 10-13 hours technical climbing day. On the way up we'll encounter seracs and crevasses, as well as technical walls to climb. The final section includes 8-10 meters of 75-80º slope. After conquering Chopicalqui summit, we'll go down to the Base Camp.
After having succeeded the 3 Summits Expedition, we'll hike down. We'll get to our private bus which will take us to through the Llanganuo Valley back to the Hotel in Huaraz. Next morning you can choose between going back to Lima by plane or bus. And then return back home!
This inspiring 3 Summits Expedition is waiting for you! Contact me to talk about details and plan what will be a life changing adventure! Or we can also chat about other summits expeditions in Peru, such as Nevado Alpamayo or Nevado Vallunaraju.

For this tour you need good physical condition, and also before going better to do some mountain climbing courses. For more information, we can schedule a call via WhatsApp. In order to request information about you, we would like to receive your experience from your CV of mountain climbing from your previous trips.
How far in advance should I start training and what kind of training do you suggest?
For this type of demanding or technical climbing sports, it is recommended to do some summits above 5 thousand meters beforehand and have good knowledge of high mountain technical equipment such as the use of technical ice axes, ice screws, correct use of crampons, and of course, all the technical material. For more information, we can schedule an appointment to be able to explain in more detail everything about the mountain equipment and the preparations prior to joining our outings.
Will I need to bring any technical equipment of my own? Is it possible to rent equipment, and if so, what would be the approximate cost of that?
For this trip, personal equipment & personal technical equipment is not included, so you have to have your own equipment such as personal equipment (boots, ice ax, crampons, harness, sleeping bag, mat, Gore-Tex, etc.) If you do not have this list, it is possible to rent the whole list in Huaraz. For detailed information and in order to send you the entire list that you should have and take, you can contact us. We can also schedule a call via WhatsApp and we will announce more details about this question.
Will there be porters to help to carry group and personal equipment?
In some sections, we have porters, but if you want an extra porter for your personal belongings, there is an additional cost of USD 65 per day. In some sections, we will use mules or donkeys to the base camp. For more information, we can schedule a call and we can explain how the trip will be executed.
How will accommodation and meals be handled on the mountain?

What happens in the event of bad weather?
In case of bad weather, the local guide, who is a certified guide, will make the most correct decision on what to do at the moment. One more day of reservation can be added, but this will have an extra cost. The final decision will be made on the ground by local guides. If you have any other questions, we can fix a date to explain.
Are there any other special requirements such as permits/insurance/vaccines that we need to consider before the tour?
To enter the Cordillera Blanca Huascaran National Park, a right of 150 soles per person is paid. We recommend having the mandatory vaccines that are required by world health the COVID-19 vaccine, and we also recommend having accident insurance. We always recommend Partners –Global Rescue. If you have any more questions about the trip, we can schedule a call via WhatsApp.
What is the guide-to-client ratio to climb this mountain?
For these mountains, for non-technical mountains, a guide takes 3 clients. For technical access mountains, the guide takes a maximum of 2 clients, meaning n a ratio of 2 customers = 1 local guide.
What is the best time of the year to climb this mountain?
The best time to climb these peaks is from the end of May to the end of September.
Can I join a group?
For trips whether trekking or high mountains, going privately is the most recommended option, but the costs are more expensive. So, if one joins a group, the prices will be more reasonable. In the mountains, the only disadvantage is if you are in a wall with another partner and if one of the participants gets tired or gets sick. In this case, you have to abort or cancel the summit and return together. For more information, contact us. We can schedule a call via WhatsApp to clarify all your questions.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
