Description

All the way from Cerro Pelao (3182 meters) to el Caballo (3013 meters), join me on this on this 3-day hiking trip to Sierra Nevada’s 3-thousanders!

During this 3-day adventure, participants will discover the amazing Sierra Nevada’s 3-thousanders, including Mulhacen (3.482m.), el Puntal de Vacares (3.138m.), La Alcazaba (3.366m.),Cerro de los Machos (3.329m.) and Veleta (3.392m.).

Our meeting point will be in Granada or Alpujarras, and from there participants will be transported to the Postero Alto Hut, located at 1850 meters. During the days to come we will be climbing the different amazing peaks that can be found in Sierra Nevada National Park. We’ll spend the nights  at camping sites we will find along the way.

Keep in mind that this trip is suitable for experienced climbers who are in great physical condition as we will be hiking between 7 and 9 hours a day.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cerro Pelao (3.182m.) - the summit rope - The Calderetas

From Postero Alto we begin our ascent to the first three thousand: Cerro Pelao (3.182m.). We continue along the summit rope (Puntal de los Cuartos, Atalaya, El Cuervo …) to Puntal de Vacares (3.182m.), From where we descend to the Calderetas to spend the night.

Accommodation and dinner in camping regime. 8 a 9h.

Day 2: El Alcazaba (3366 mt) - Siete Lagunas - Mulhacen (3482 meters) - Cerro de los Machos - Pico del Veleta

We move towards the northwest to El Alcazaba (3,366m.),

Descend to Siete Lagunas and from here we continue our march to Mulhacén, roof of the peninsula (3,482m.).

We continue through Rio Seco valley towards the Cerro de los Machos and Pico del Veleta, dedicating the day to the summits of the Central Sector of Sierra Nevada.

Lodging and dinner in Veleta refuge and / or camping in the Lagunillos de la Virgen.

Day 3: Last day!

Lagunillos de la Virgen, Elorrieta (3.183m.). Valley of the Lanjarón River to the Cerro del Caballo (3,013m.).

We descend  2,300m. where participants will get transferred to the town of Lanjarón.

Transfer to Granada.

Necessary material: Sleeping bag, mat, 50L minimum backpack, mountain clothes, sunglasses, protection cream. Cutlery.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area.
