Description

Explore the stunning mountains of Bariloche in western Argentina on a backcountry ski tour.

Bariloche is a beautiful town that sits at the foot of the Andes and surrounds the Nahuel Huapi National Park, the oldest in Argentina.

We’ll rise above the famous skiing resort of Catedral, the largest in South America and the Southern Hemisphere, after warming up on some off-piste terrain.

Once we’re ready we’ll traverse along a very scenic ridgeline before descending into the Van Titter Valley. Here we will experience the wild slopes of untracked lines.

After another ascent we’ll reach the picturesque lodgings of the Frey Hut, one of the most scenic huts in all of Bariloche.

The terrain around the Frey Hut is diverse. There are many options of steepness, from spectacular couloirs to wide-open faces. All of which are punctuated with granite towers.

The Frey Hut features wood-panelled walls, a tiled roof, a kitchen and large dining room, comfy beds and a wood chimney.

Mountain Guide

Aloja! I´m Diego Simari. I´m 31 years old and I´m still having all my teeth! Patagonian by choice, I grew up in Bariloche - an overwhelming paradise in northern Patagonia - where I still live in.

When I was 19 years old I was introduced into the “vertical world”, andinism, and since then it became my addiction.

Even though I had the chance to meet beautiful places throughout the whole Andes, from Southern Patagonia in Argentina and Chile to the Northern Andes of Bolivia and Perú, I was infatuated by El Chaltén; a little town with not only the most perfect granite needles, and wild surroundings, but with the warmth of real friendship. The place that you dream of!

One thing led to another and I spent more and more time on the mountains… so finally I ended up getting, in 2014, my mountain guide UIAGM IFMGA certificate! Since then I´ve used it as a way for exploring other areas, mainly in El Chalten and Bariloche but also Mendoza, Huaraz and the Alps.

Despite my love for the mountains, dancing has also been my passion since I was young. Part of my living philosophy comes from that side since I’m always trying to find the real rhythm in life! Living without needing too much, exploring, sharing and growing within nature.

And that´s why I found in Patagonia a place for expansion! A place where everything is not only unpolluted but possible.

Come to Patagonia, let me show you this paradise and its magic!!

“The mountain is just the way, enjoying is the real goal”

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
