Description

Acquire the fundamentals of avalanche training during a 1-day course for beginners around the stunning Swiss town of Zermatt.

As skiing gear has become much better, so have the technical abilities for large numbers of skiers and snowboarders. And along with greater efficiency in transportation, every year more and more people are getting into off-piste, free-riding, and extreme skiing.

Yet despite being capable of taking on couloirs, deep snow and steep slopes, most skiers and riders generally lack a huge amount of mountaineering skills.

During the course you’ll learn the required skills to handle avalanches.

The course covers how to judge the dangers of avalanches and how to deal with them, how to plan tours and descents, and how to take the right decisions under pressure and in critical situations. Other aspects of the course include what to do when something unexpected happens.

Due to the nature of this course, it is necessary to be able to already know how to ski safely in unprepared terrain. In addition, participants are expected to have a good level of fitness.
