Description

Enjoy ski touring in 4 different Patagonian volcanos on this exhilarating 10-day program in Argentina and Chile.

Our meeting point will be in Bariloche, a beautiful city located in the Argentinean province of Río Negro. First of all, we’ll have an introduction and get ready for our ski touring adventure.

The volcanoes included in this program belong to the Andes and are located in the border area between Chile and Argentina. Our first goal will be Tronador, a stratovolcano at an altitude of 3,554 meters. Our next stop will be Osorno that reaches 2,652 meters above sea level. Then, we’ll go to Villarrica Volcano (2,847 meters) and, lastly, we’ll reach the Lanin Volcano (3,776 meters). This last peak is the highest of the four and will allow us to enjoy a descent of 2,500 meters. Please take a look at the bottom of the page for a more detailed description of the itinerary.

This experience offers you the chance to improve your abilities and enjoy fantastic descents. In addition, you will get to see astonishing landscapes, learn about the Argentinian and Chilean culture, enjoy delicious food and relax at the hot springs

Also, keep in mind that prior ski touring experience and a very good level of fitness is mandatory for this trip. Of course, I will be there to help and guide you.

Mountain Guide

I´m based in Bariloche, Patagonia, where I guide full time, mostly technical custom trips with small groups.

I started guiding in 1998, and my job took me all around the globe. In Montana, USA, where I lived for many years I worked extensively in the Rockies, guiding in the Tetons, Wind Rivers, and the Beartooths. Back to Argentina, I spend most of my time ski guiding volcanoes, rock climbing at Frey and mountaineering in Chalten and Tronador.

The rest of time I work as a Technical director at the AAGM, forming new guides, and trying to be an exciting dad for my two kids, taking advantage of the great backyard we have at home!

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Maxine

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
