Description

The gorgeous, sublime and magnificent scenery of Lemmenjoki National Park in Finland is an absolutely breathtaking section of Lapland, and I will guide you as we traipse and travail around the park on a 1-week hike, taking in regions that were the scene of the biggest gold rush in Europe, as well as taking ample time to admire the raw natural beauty of forests, fells and waterfalls that surround us.

Lemmenjoki National Park is located in Finnish Lapland, and is the biggest national park in Finland and one of the biggest in Europe. It is most famous for being the site of one of Europe’s biggest gold rushes in 1946, and people still dig for gold to this day.

We meet at Ivalo Airport on the first day, and from there we head to the national park in earnest.

Each day on this adventure entails something new and exciting, with highlights including a full day visit to a gold mine, petting reindeers, and a boat ride on the final day on the other side of Lemmenjoki.

It is hard to overstate how sumptuous and alluring the landscape, scenery and terrain is, with its richly coloured Autumn leaves and tranquil, pristine forest and vegetation re-enforcing how far removed from the modern world this place is, allowing us to unwind, disconnect and relax.

Those who are lucky enough will also be exposed to the Northern Lights if the conditions are perfect, one of the most jaw-dropping sights on earth.

After 7 days we finish our journey, immensely satisfied at having explored one of the most charming and delightful national parks in Europe.
