Bring your ice climbing skills to the next level on an outstanding guided program in Les Contamines-Montjoie! This amazing area in Haute-Savoie places you in a gorgeous Alpine setting while sending you up exhilarating ice falls on a day or more of unique and satisfying routes in France!

Les Contamines-Montjoie is a commune in Southeastern France, known for its abundant winter activities and exciting landscape in the Alps. With some of the most symbolic and iconic peaks of the western Alps towering above it, this southeastern tip of Haute-Savoie is a well-known ice climbing paradise, with Notre Dame de la Gorge as a perfect starting point.

Beginning early in the day with some gear review and basic instruction, we will work our way into the more inspiring climbs. I will ensure we have a safe and fulfilling experience, combining practical application with traditional instruction. You can expect to improve and perfect techniques throughout the day, including ice axe and equipment usage, placing screws, setting up belays, and so much more. Then it’s up the ice for a frozen program filled with fun.

Your program is designed to give you a day of thrilling lines and adrenaline-pumping climbs in a beautiful natural setting. Notre Dame de la Gorge is a scenic area that has become the go-to destination for ice climbing in Les Contamines-Montjoie. It offers routes for all levels of climber, though the focus of our program is to build upon your skill set. The ice falls in Sainte Chappelle and La Rosiere are just a couple of options that offer some exciting multi-pitch challenges.

If one day isn’t enough, we can certainly extend your trip into a multi-day affair. With a few days to explore the region, we can even head to Gogne, Italy, and the Armancette Ice Falls, or La Gruvaz ice falls in Switzerland. Let me know what your schedule is and what you would like to experience, and I can tailor a program around your needs and abilities.

You should be in good shape for this program, and having previous ice climbing experience might be vital to your appreciation and enjoyment of the trip. A passion for and comfort with ice climbing is paramount for us, so intermediate climbers are encouraged to join.

Mountain Guide

I was born in 1990 in Lus la Croix Haute, a small village nestled between the Vercors and the Dévoluy, and right on the border of 3 French departments: Isere, Hautes Alpes and Drome.

I started practicing mountain sports at a very young age: skiing first and then then mountain biking. At the age of 7, I started ski touring on the trail just above my house with my father and my sister. And then, a few years later, I gave my first steps in ski mountaineering: Pelvoux traverse at 9, Dome de Miage on skis at 10 and the Meije traverse at 12.

I've always enjoyed competition and started competing in ski mountaineering since I was very young. I've won Pierra Menta twice and the World Championship four times.

Becoming a mountain guide has always been my dream and I'm very happy to see it come true. I have also started paragliding recently and I hope to be able to combine it with my mountain guiding business one day.

I currently live in St Nicolas de Véroce in Haute Savoie. My father's family comes from this village and it is here that I learned to ski. It holds a dear place in my heart and it is here that I feel most at home.
