On the edge of the Dolomite mountain range lies the beautiful Lake Garda, halfway between Venice and Milan in Italy. Formed by glaciers during the last ice age, Garda is Italy’s largest lake.
On this trip I will take you from Riva del Garda at the northern tip of the lake to Limone, climbing 850m on route. We will be following ancient paths and trails used by smugglers in ancient times. We will enjoy fantastic views over the lake and mountainside along the way.
Our route from Riva del Garda will see us walk along the stunning Ponale road until Pregasina, a charming little village with gorgeous terrace views over the lake.
Then we will continue up to Punta Larici which possesses one of the most incredible vistas of the entire Garda area, which also provides us with the perfect location to enjoy some lunch.
After lunch I will lead you up an old, steep road with breathtaking views until we reach Limone. This captivating town welcomes us with its famous lemon groves and beautiful town centre. For those who wish to do so, there will be time for a visit to the town’s lemon museum.
For the route back, we will take a boat from Limone to Riva, a truly wonderful ride that provides a feast for the eyes in all directions.
You’ll need to be physically fit, have no fear of heights and be confident on steep terrain to enjoy this trip.
If you are keen to explore the splendorous surroundings of lake Garda and enjoy a demanding hike, then sign up now and I look forward to leading you out into this spectacular landscape!
If you’re looking for a more extended hike then consider this 3-day hike and via ferrata in the Dolomites for a real immersion into the landscape. If a fun day out near lake Garda drew you here, then check out this day of excitement, climbing, swimming and kayaking at lake Garda!

Mountain Guide
Certified mountain and ski guide and is directing since 15 years the Mountain School Mmove (former Friends of Arco). In the past, his passion had driven him for weeks to the solitude of the Alps, of Patagonia, or of the icy heights of the Karakorum to climb famous walls and peaks and open up new routes.
Today his priorities have moved. He wants to share his enthusiasm for the mountains - while working with his guests and in his spare time with his sons, as his father has once done with him. Mauro Girardi is very proud on its enthusiastic and highly qualified team of local Mountain-and Ski Guides, Hiking Guides and office employees. Mmove is not just a mountain school, but is a steadily growing circle of friends, who would like to realize great experiences. We like to Mmove it !!
Mmove is the only mountain school in the Alto Garda region with a guaranteed weekly program and activities for all tastes and the whole family.
The team is formed by 8 IFMGA/UIAGM Guides, so if Mauro is not available, one of the other highly qualified members of the team will be the guide.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
