What should I know about Mountain Climbing United Kingdom?
Composed of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, the United Kingdom is a small but diverse place and full of plenty of great mountain climbing experiences for participants of every level.
Away from Ben Nevis, there are plenty of other popular mountaineering destinations in Scotland. The Cuillin Ridge on the Isle of Skye boasts 11 munros (mountains) and presents a great challenge for mountaineering enthusiasts with four days to spare. In Pinn, the tallest of the munros, is largely considered to be the toughest climb in the whole UK.
Away from Scotland, there are also plenty of great mountaineering opportunities in Wales as well. The Snowdon range is home to some of the most prominent mountains in the country and the highest outside of Scotland. There are numerous great climbing options here, from the technical ascent of Crib Goch to some of the tougher routes up Snowdown, itself.
England has the fewest great mountaineering spots in the UK. Most of its mountains can be hiked up. However, some of the steeper and taller fells of the Lake District require some technical climbing to get up and yield fantastic views.
