Monviso or Monte Viso (3841 m) is a majestic and isolated mountain lying in the Piedmont province in Italy. Located close to the French border, it is the highest peak in the Cottian Alps. Monviso can be seen almost from everywhere in the alpine ridge, as it is higher than all its neighbouring peaks. You can either climb it by the normal route or by the eastern ridge, longer but without any technical difficulties, with a night at the Quintino Sella Hut.
